For me that page comes up blank after “Evenements, Contents” and a line. I turned off AdBlock and still the same. Using a Mozilla based browser.
Huh? I thought you were already about to change events to posts. Will your new “custom post types” not support standard WP galleries? Yikes, another reason to prefer using regular posts instead of custom post types. (Yes, this is the axe I grind relative to another calendar plugin.)

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Past eventsGreat, inTOWN. First they kill posts with too much code and tell us to use a pastebin, and then they block pastebin links?
Well that’s a rather odd URL. Are you sure you typed it correctly? It seems that you have a subdirectory named “index.php”, which is both unusual and confusing.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Custom RSS feedMaybe use the regular-posts hack and push them through a different feed that way?

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] RSS FeedInteresting. That URL works as an RSS feed in 1.6 too, but it shows up without listings.
Thanks, rob.
The remaining issues that come to mind right now are:
1. Category integration. Will you “bless” or otherwise incorporate handsomeman’s category hack (allowing TEC events to occupy BOTH the new TEC 2 categories AND standard WP categories)? And if one then chooses to use only standard categories in 2.x events, will there be a loss of TEC feature functionality? Will other TEC functions be able to see or use the normal categories?
2. Permalinks and search. Several people (not me) have complained that their event posts in 2.x are largely ignored by The Google, both for migrated 1.x events and newly posted events.
3. The survivability of the regular post and category hacks through future upgrades.
I’m typically pretty cynical, but I disagree. I really do think this was an (ill conceived) attempt to use the latest features of WordPress as it develops, and that, as they’ve written, their previous use of regular posts as events was never part of their intention but merely a marriage of convenience.
And yet I still think they’ve thrown away something great and turned their software into just another calendar. 🙁
Just want to add that the folks posting at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-the-events-calendar-how-to-get-events-to-show-on-front-page?replies=15 made me reconsider the “SEO” issue. Even if one is not using ads or trying to game Google, it’s pretty significant if TEC 2.x posts don’t get indexed at all!
That’s what the two posters there seem to be saying — is that different from your experience, Jonas?
They have actually been very active and response on these kind of issues, even though in the end they called people like you and me, who much prefer the way TEC 1.6 operates, a “vocal minority”.
They are just dead set on the using custom post types, and have shown no inclination of going back the other way. 🙁
Still, they are accepting the various hacks to display their custom post types on the front page and possibly reincorporate categories as handsomeman has done. They’ve already listed Jonas Grumby’s patch on their blog.
However, I just find 1.65 to be a much better solution — everything more or less just works. Multiple user draft and publishing, category listings, compatibility with other plugins, front page presence, it all just work(ed). To hear that Google won’t even properly find or index 2.x event postings just makes it worse. But I guess this is essentially the same issue Jonas raised about SEO…

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Events disappearing from list before they even startsIf I understand the translation, it’s really just ONE line we’d need to tweak, is that correct, feneblog?
Solution of the problem
The attribute “$ this-> date” is assigned to an incorrect date format.
the-events-calendar.class.php (Goals: 1237)
1$ this-> date = date_i18n (The_Events_Calendar: DBDATETIMEFORMAT);
I adapted this line and the required date format entered, since the constant is overwritten during the term anyway.
1$ this-> date date_i18n = (‘Y m d H: i: s’);
After this change will also appear with me today dates back properly.
Who does not itself change the line like, you can download the custom file:
Download the fixed-events calendar.class.phpThe fixed file in the plugin directory, simply replace wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar /.
I’m glad if you give me just leave a comment if you were able to fix that problem.
Selection of the time does not work with new eventsEvent Date Picker
If you take the check “all day” appears out, but not the choice of the time.A solution to the problem can be found here:
http://rvo.me/dia/2011/the-events-calendar-event-options-jquery-fix/I hope now that the new Events Calendar Pro 2.0 will be released soon.
Also, regarding the rvo.me/dia patch, I noticed it’s significantly different from the original code (omits text and other changes) — is it completely functional and compatible? (I, too, am still using TEC 1.6.)
Anyhow, thanks…
handsome, are you replying in the right thread?
Tell me about it. 🙁 There is a hack posted by handsomeman to integrate categories — http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-the-events-calendar-are-events-categories-different-from-regular-post-categories?replies=19
(This used to be trivial with the old version of The Events Calendar; events were ordinary posts.)
Of course you could just post direct links/URLs to the full calendar in both your menu bar and sidebar widgets.
You’re welcome. It’s nice to help out a little, since I’m mostly “taking” from the forum.
I believe it’s based on the general settings for your blog. (Or at least it used to be in v. 1.x .)
