In reply to: Which WordPress CRM?I have more or less given up on finding anything good as a PLUGIN. Right now I’m checking out RoloPress, which unfortunately must be installed on a dedicated WP site (it takes over the theme and child theme).
Other than that the only good alternatives seem like SugarCRM / vTiger CRM, which are really intimidating to new users.
I wish I could find something simple that integrated right into an existing WordPress site….
They appear only to answer questions from people who have ALREADY paid them, so good luck getting any answer on this DateTec!
And watch out, some doofus named “Anders” may chime in to offer nothing helpful at all, because you dared to ask them a question in the WordPress forum that hosts their plugin. 🙁
What Alaskan said. I’d link again to my own unanswered questions, but what’s the point?
I’ve just gone and installed a real CRM system (vTiger) on my webhost instead. I wanted something more integrated with WordPress, but this unsupported project doesn’t seem like the right one. 🙁

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Showing the Events on the home pageShane? Rob? This thread may scroll away pretty soon…
Hmm, about time for someone to comment on this important thread.
🙂
Twitter is a distraction. You have a support forum here at WordPress.org, the place that hosts your software. I posted some questions 2 weeks ago but haven’t gotten any response. 🙁
Interestingly, the links do work if you append a trailing slash to the month URL ( http://www.jasonsilvestri.com/events/2011-05/ )
It seems that web servers / WordPress installations other than yours are appending that slash automatically?

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Showing the Events on the home pageThanks guys, but Shane I’m a bit confused by your last comment. Just including the events in the post loop will make their corresponding categories usable in non-TEC contexts? I thought I’d still need something like handsomeman’s hack in order to do anything useful with categories and TEC 2.x. (I’ve described this before, but I just use multiple category assignments to make a single event/post appear in multiple listings and under multiple menus along with other normal posts and galleries that are related to that post/event.)

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Showing the Events on the home pageWhich is great (and admirable) but then becomes something that I need to become responsible for wherever I add it, living through upgrades, informing site owners, etc. It gets away from the easy parts assembly I thought the plugins and widgets were supposed to represent… At some point we’d have to ask whether it makes sense to use a “plug-in” that required so much manual tweaking, especially when right now the deprecated version still works so seamlessly for us…
Don’t get me wrong, Jonas, I much appreciate the code / idea. Thanks.
The new TEC 2.x events have their OWN version of categories and do not integrate with other things that rely on regular categories. User handsomeman posted a hack that allows you to assign regular categories to your TEC 2.x “custom post types”.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Showing the Events on the home pageWell, for me it’s more about categories — I don’t even SHOW a post loop on the home page (other than via widgets). So I guess that “Show events in main post loop” wouldn’t really help me much?
But I guess my widgets (e.g., recent posts by category) might benefit? Not sure. Handsomeman provided a category hack that seems promising.
I don’t really grok the difference between tags and categories, other than that categories seem a lot more useful in WordPress.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Showing the Events on the home pageGood luck, supersonic. I’ve been looking at them too. Their subforum here is pretty active. There’s also a fork of their older version called Events Made Easy.
Note, however, that they’re moving to the same custom-posts-type format as TEC 2.x!
And this is why I’m still at unsupported TEC 1.x.
It should be at yoursite/events I believe.
Documentation is at http://tri.be/support/documentation/
I guess the “just a tag” thing is the REAL problem. It’s awfully weird that the only way wordpress.org hosted projects are allowed their own subforums is via such a simplistic kludge. Makes it difficult and awkward for ordinary users AND project leaders, I’d imagine.
And yet at the same time they have a strict no-bumping rule. So it’s a complete Catch-22!
Perhaps a once a week “nudge” (rather than a “bump”) would be in order. 🙂 Or various people could just repost the information from time to time. 🙁
Thanks for checking.
