rvlawrence’s post comes off a bit harsh, but that’s part of the reason I’m sticking with The Events Calendar 1.6 for now. Unfortunately I know of no other decent calendaring plugin that DOES treat events as posts! (One says it’s in the works.)
Maybe there’s a better way, with an non-plugin calendar? I just haven’t found anything good, and I don’t want to just put everything on Google Calendar…
snomo, for what it’s worth, the versions immediately prior to this 2.0 upgrade did treat events as regular posts and not custom posts, making it a bit easier to do “posts” things with them. Shane’s already looked into getting us some of that back functionality (e.g., including custom posts in the main loop).
If they complete the transition to “events are posts” then I would guess you could use regular categories and code of the form described at http://codex.wordpress.org/Displaying_Posts_Using_a_Custom_Select_Query
I think this is possible with competing plugins?

In reply to: [Event Calendar] [Plugin: Ajax Event Calendar] More Event Repeat OptionsCan a single event be repeated on an arbitrary set of dates, for example a touring show appearing locally 3 times in a 2 week period?
Personally I was checking the wordpress.org page so I knew this was coming.
But on the auto-update side, couldn’t you simply have pushed into the auto-update feed a 1.6x update whose ONLY change was a big banner inviting people to download the new version?
(Perhaps your problem with that approach would be that you would be creating a separate project.)
No, no, this is a COMMON problem with 1.6 and WordPress 3.2!
Apparently it has something to do with JQuery changes.
I’m considering the hacks posted at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/all-day-event-bug-in-wp32-with-solution
but am at a loss as to what to do.
Andy’s site doesn’t seem to have any posts in the Events category?
http://www.jewishpeoria.org/category/events
That might help explain why he’s not getting a migrate option?
Really? I can then assign regular WordPress Categories to TEC 2.x events, just as I did in in 1.x?
I thought it didn’t work that way any more.
(He already downgraded — so he’ll have to reinstall 2.0 and then choose Migrate Data, right?)
According to his other threads nothing is supposed to have been deleted!
In TEC 1.x the events ARE just WordPress posts. Are you saying that all those POSTS are gone, or just that they no longer appear in the newly reinstalled calendar?
Yeah, I think I saw robertoc’s post earlier — but that doesn’t help me include TEC 2.x Events in regular WP categories, does it?
I don’t know about them “having a solution” — I suspect it’s a LOT of work to switch from one style to another (witness your 2.0 development process) so I wouldn’t really expect Events-Manager to work the way TEC 1.6 does any time soon!
I think we’re sticking with The-Events-Calendar.
Thanks for the answer.
Your Google tracker requires a Google Account login, and they have enough of my data as it is. No way to independently post?
akravetz, Shane previously posted a link to the old versions. I THINK you can just deactivate the 2.0 version and install 1.6 manually, and you’ll get everything back…

Unfortunately The Scoop’s site gave me this error while checking the Categories:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 30932992) (tried to allocate 99453 bytes) in /homepages/31/d335370834/htdocs/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 2909
EY2P’s seems okay but doesn’t use a calendar view or categories…
Conversely, if I just install it to try it out, does it UNINSTALL cleanly? Would I just deactivate the plugin and remove its directory? What about the database content?
