Alex, thanks, but couldn’t you have temporarily put a notice on that URL (apparently sopresto.mailchimp.com) telling us what the trouble was?
I had to log in here (WordPress.org forums) to figure out what was wrong; I thought your service was just not working any more.
In the Social plugin, clicking on the “Sign in with” links to try to fix things, all I was seeing was a popup browser window with
“Address Not Found
sopresto.mailchimp.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.”
I would guess a lot of your users wouldn’t have bothered going further. (After all this is a pretty niche service for people like me who don’t like staying logged in to social networks. 🙂 )
Anyway, that aside, I love the plugin and have been using it for months, so thank you for the service.

In reply to: [Events Made Easy] [Plugin: Events Made Easy] Does Nothing At AllOkay, to each his or her own. The useful part is that everything gets linked back to one calendar, you can display events and listings in multiple ways, there is automatic payment tracking, there are location maps, categories, notifications, etc., etc. And no 3rd parties taking cuts or restricting use. We publish our events and mirror them into posts, “tweets”, etc.
Sure, in the end it’s a VERY fancy overlay on top of a PayPal button, but what isn’t? 🙂
By the way, EME doesn’t “create a page called Events” either — you have to do that, and tell EME where it is. (Edit: or maybe it does; the FAQ says so, and it’s been a while since I installed; anyhow, the page is arbitrary.) Again, it’s just a blank placeholder, no configuration or content required on that page. In case you didn’t know, this started as a fork of another successful plugin called Events Manager. Good luck.

In reply to: [Events Made Easy] [Plugin: Events Made Easy] No automatic Payment OptionIt works. The PayPal specific code DOES report back to your server when the payment is processed. There’s an “IPN” interface standard at work. (You just include the booking form, #_ADDBOOKINGFORM, in the “Default single event format”.)
Right now we have events for which 7 people have registered, and our EME “Pending Approvals” page shows that so far 3 of them have successfully paid through PayPal.
Technically we never really bother to “approve” the registrations within EME; all that would do is generate more e-mail messages. As far as I can tell it’s more for internal bookkeeping than anything else.

In reply to: [Events Made Easy] [Plugin: Events Made Easy] Does Nothing At AllThe big mystery for me was solved once I realized how much power the little “Default single event format” box has over the operation of Events Made Easy. We have no need for Eventbrite or its ilk, and we maintain control of our event planning, registration, and payments.
Once you (a) designate an Events page (it’s a PLACEHOLDER only) and then (b) customize the contents of that “Default single event format” box in the EME settings, you’re on your way.
I’ve put out versions of my own settings before, which you might find helpful.

In reply to: [Social] [Plugin: Social] Hooks and Filters, Events Made Easy IntegrationI’ve managed to hack at EME’s code so that it produces a WP Post closely mimicking each event.
Now I can manually go to each of those resulting posts and use Social’s broadcast buttons.
But the post creation (via wp_insert_post) is NOT kicking off Social’s automated broadcasts.
Do I have to switch to an xml-rpc approach to get Social to pick up automatically on these new posts?

In reply to: [Social] [Plugin: Social] Only for blog posts, not for pages?Yes, I noticed… but you also marked it “Resolved”?
Also, I suggested uninstalling(deleting the plugin)/reinstalling, not merely deactivating/reactivating. Kind of a big difference, and it might help…

In reply to: [Social] [Plugin: Social] Only for blog posts, not for pages?Viktor, are you at WordPress 3.4.1? I think the reworked menu bar is brand new with that release. (And I think I liked it better the old way.)
If you’re at that version of WordPress, and then you uninstall and reinstall Social, it should work…?

In reply to: [Social] [Plugin: Social] Only for blog posts, not for pages?Prof. Jerz, I tried adding the following comment to your blog but apparently the “WP-Sentinel” system you use is not very good. (Big red scary warning, you’re an attacker blah blah, “Variable comment of the POST method triggered the filter ‘common comment types’).
Anyway, thanks for the quick hack. Here’s what I tried to post there:
Guys, I’m pretty sure the “Find Social Comments” is just added to the WP 3.4 banner menu by Social, AND that it appears all the time, independent of and unrelated to the post OR the page you’re viewing. I don’t think Prof. Jerz’s hack changed it. (I haven’t applied the hack, and the Find Social menu appears everywhere as I describe.)
FYI I’ve added a question on Hooks and Filters to the support forum on wordpress.org — Alex has mentioned it several times but I don’t see any actual documentation on the available filters…

In reply to: [Social] [Plugin: Social] Click to add FB and Twitter = popup of my own siteHostgator has sec_mod rules that have to be changed to allow the authorization links to Facebook and Twitter.
They had to change TWO rules for me… Once I provided the URL I was getting (in my case it was going to a “Page Not Found” on my WP site) they were able to debug it with me.

In reply to: [Events Made Easy] [Plugin: Events Made Easy] Event Body Blank!I tried registering on the e-dynamics forum but it’s waiting for approval.
I don’t see any identical complaints there either.
I tried changing to the default 2011 theme. Then the TEXT part of the event body showed up. But the registration/booking/location details were still nowhere to be found.
🙁
Advice please?
You guys might want to at least post a quick “might already be addressed in the new update; thanks for trying WP-CRM” to all the unanswered threads here and in your own forums, especially since you’re saying that many outstanding issues were addressed.
Leaving all the threads unanswered gives a very bad impression.
Just a suggestion.
Anders, is your only ability troll like behavior? Can you instead perhaps answer some questions about software and HELP people for a change?
3 months, and no answer at all unless, apparently, I’m willing to pay them first. Nice. And their own forums are similarly ignored. I understand that the paying customers get top priority, but how does one decide to become a customer if one can’t find out anything about the product? Oh well, moving on.
