In reply to: [SSU - WordPress Amazon S3 & Wasabi Smart File Uploads Plugin] S3 user roleHello @tomchiv1,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
We hope you’ve had a great weekend.
Regarding your questions, please find below our answers:
- You can define the user’s permission by adding this code snippet to your policy file using JSON.
The permission should be: “Limited: Read, Write, Permissions management.” - You can tick the “Block all public access” checkbox to create a private bucket, then use S3 signed URLs to grant your users access to private files.
Please refer to our documentation here for more information on how to a new Amazon S3 bucket:

Thanks for reaching out to us last night.
Yes, it looks possible to help you achieve that by configuring permissions for user roles.
To assist you better, may we know who can edit your protected pages from Dashboard and Pages?
Why do you want to prevent Admins from doing so?

Hi @ravipateldhg,
Thanks for reaching out to us last night.
Just to clarify, only those who have correct permission, e.g. logged-in users, can access your protected files.
Otherwise, they’ll be redirected to a No Access page.
To be more specific,
- Protected link: https://premium.the-bach-project.com/wp-content/uploads/_pda/2021/12/Preview-2.mp4 can be accessed by logged-in users only
- Original link: https://premium.the-bach-project.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Preview-2.mp4 no longer exist and will return 404
To assist you better, may we know:
- A screenshot of your file’s “Configure File Protection” popup
- The hosting provider you’re using
- Your order ID or license key if you’re using our PDA Gold version
You might want to send these details to our support email – hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com so that our team can support you faster.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [SSU - WordPress Amazon S3 & Wasabi Smart File Uploads Plugin] PrivacyHello @aminericher,
Thanks for reaching out to us last night.
Yes, we’re more than happy to help you find the best solution as long as we understand your specific needs. 🙂
So just to confirm, you want S3 files to be accessed by the users who upload them only. Am I right?
If so, each user doesn’t need to have their own upload folder. The system should check & grant access according to the file access permission.
It’s best if you can share with us more about your use case so that we can understand and advise you accordingly.
You might want to send these details to our support email – hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com so that our team can support you faster.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hello Mike,
Thanks for reaching out to us last night.
Yes, it’s possible to achieve what you want with our plugin.
Just to clarify, it’s expected behavior when protected images can’t be accessed by unauthorized users.
To be more specific, if you grant protected file access to “Admin users” and “The file’s author”, only those who have these roles can view your protected files.
That said, we do have features that allow you to display protected files on pages/articles while they’re still being protected from direct access.
To advise you on the best solution, may we know more about your use case?
- Who can access your protected files via direct URLs, e.g. logged-in users only?
- Who can view your protected files on pages/articles, e.g. only logged-in users or everyone?
- What’s the crawler you’ve mentioned?
You might want to send these details to our support email – hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com so that our team can support you faster.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
- You can define the user’s permission by adding this code snippet to your policy file using JSON.
