In reply to: Category page with titles onlyThe only way I could think of to do it would be to make a modified index.php with only time and title tags (maybe extracts too, depending on how many posts you have) and then setting it to only display one category.
Unfortunately you would only get as many posts listed as you had set for the index page to display, though you might be able to pass a new value for posts per page to override your settings – haven’t tried that yet, but it could work.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Change the (more…) text in posts?I would have thought the easiest way would be to alter the parameters in index.php:
<?php the_content ('Full Story...') ?>
Does that no longer work in 1.2?Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: punBB vs miniBB?Was punBB even available when this forum was first set up? I don’t know. It is not that the devs have any issues with punBB – I believe Alex King uses it on his site – just that Matt is happy with miniBB and its too late to switch now anyway. People who have problems with it are free to go away and set up alternative boards that no-one will use. The End.

In reply to: dereferencing urls in comments – an ideaI’m with you. Why should comment spammers get to use our sites as a stepping stone to boost their pagerank?

In reply to: CSS in IE not working right…Relax, most WordPress users wouldn’t touch IE with a bargepole, and if any of your readers still use it its your job to convince them otherwise 😉

In reply to: import-mt.php –> blank author in wp 1.2-epsilon-RPerhaps it should be made clearer when people first download that WordPress is recommended to be used with a standards-compliant browser? While they would probably get that impression from the appearance of the forums in IE, it can’t hurt to emphasize it and avoid problems like this.

In reply to: Anybody getting a lot of SPAM comments?Have you banned the spammers IP? It’s easy for spammers to get round that, of course, but it can be a deterrent.

In reply to: templatesWasn’t there a contact address on the site?

In reply to: Create a MT to WP forum categoryWhy restrict it to MT? All import questions could go in the same category.

In reply to: Forum RulesJust adding to this since we seem to have gained a lot of new users over the past few days, and I expect when the final version of 1.2 is released we will be seeing even more traffic. Most of you seem to have registered which is great. Could I also just stress the importance of SEARCHING before you ask a question. A lot of the questions we get here are repetitions of previous ones, and if this forum is going to be busy it would help everyone if we avoided asking the same things over and over. For example if you have a bug to report, go to the existing beta thread devoted to that version, don’t start a new thread for something that’s been mentioned already.
Finally if you are asking for help, you MUST tell us which version of WordPress you are using. There are a whole bunch of versions floating around, from the last official release to the nightlys to the release candidate, and it’s very difficult for us to answer questions if we don’t know which one we’re dealing with!Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Migration from Radio UserlandBlogging via email works for some people, not for others. You can also blog offline using a third-party client such as w.bloggar – no official support for WP as yet, but you may be able to get it to work with the b2 settings.
Import/export RSS might also be a good solution for all those people who would like to keep a backup of their entries without having to do a mySQL dump. I guess that would mean everyone agreeing on an RSS format, though, which seems unlikely.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Trackbacks on main pageDidn’t shelleyp do a hack for this – i.e. separating comments from trackbacks? I don’t think she released it for 1.02 but I recall something about her making it available when 1.2 comes out.

In reply to: MT database importIf I were you, I’d install a basic PHP/mySQL setup on my PC and do the import locally. That way you can change the timeout settings yourself.
