Everything is clear except the difference between

“the full server path to the directory”

    and

    “the root path forward”

In my mind, that sounds like the same thing.

Anyway, to be more specific, will define( 'HMBKP_EXCLUDE', '/wp-snapshots/' ); work or do I need

    define( 'HMBKP_EXCLUDE', '/wp-content/wp-snapshots/' ); ?

For grins I just installed and ran the free version of UpdraftPlus. I did not set any exclusions (I’m not sure how much you can control exclusions with the free version anyway). It created a backup folder called updraft that contained various zip files. The full directory was a little over 504mb. Inside that folder, one of the zip files was all the media files, which was 337mb. So if you subtract the media files, that leaves less than 200mb of other stuff. Seems that’s what BackUpWordPress’ zip file should be, around 200mb, right? (Instead of the 460mb file that includes the Duplicator backup).

I don’t think the two issues are interrelated since the extra backups first occurred on the old server months ago and continued on the new server. The exclusion problem with Duplicator only started this week.

Before I add the HMBKP_EXCLUDE, does that simply add a specific exclusion(s) to the existing exclusions or do I have to also add all the exclusions I have already added on the Backup admin page?

How does it read the path? i.e. what level directory does it start with?

If those questions are answered on the page you referenced, it wasn’t obvious to me.

I moved this website to a new hosting company a little more than a month ago. As you know I first reported the extra backup problem in an earlier thread BEFORE the move. Closing it out as “resolved” seems weird to me…since I don’t see it being resolved.

I opened this new thread because it’s a separate problem.

I did mistype wp-snapshots in the message at the beginning of this thread — its not wc-snapshots — which is why I include screenshots. ; )

Not aware of any caching – that doesn’t mean my host doesn’t have some but I doubt they would have enabled it on my server without telling me.

    Thank you BIG TIME!

    2. works like a dream and no 777 permissions needed

I wrote the author but while waiting for a reply I thought I’d check the support pages and I’m glad I did. I had been using WP 4.6 forever and recently upgraded to 4.7.3 and that killed downML until I tried this fix.

    Odd behavior continues.

I did a manual backup (bottom screenshot) this morning and though it didn’t do two identical backups like it did again last night, it still indicates there are four backups but only shows three.

Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll just pay attention to the General tab for now.

Since the backup is set to weekly, I won’t see what will happen on the scheduled backup until tonight.

I didn’t try a manual backup since the upgrade. After I see the result of the scheduled backup tonight, I might try a manual one.

To reiterate, before your recent incremental upgrade the backups worked normally. And we’re still getting good backups, etc. Just a little odd behavior…

I couldn’t find the old topic either but I’m pretty sure it was fixed is a few releases I updated to until this last one brought the behavior back.

I only use BackUpWordPress on one site regularly and have a very simple backup set with only a few exclusions for images, which are backed up separately by using downML. Otherwise I would have to use up all my bandwidth with one large download.

    Here it is:
Backup my database and files weekly on Tuesday at 11:55 pm, store the last 5 backups in /cat/wp-content/backupwordpress-d0b7d0dbb5-backups. Send an email notification to (my email address).

The unscheduled backup runs only when BackUpWordPress is updated – and to clarify again, the behavior happened a year or so ago, then it went away after I posted about it, then it just came back with the last update. The backup happens immediately after the BackUpWordPress update finishes.

Again, not a big hassle, just a minor annoyance.

    Thanks for considering fixing it.

    Thanks for the links!

The first link on SkyVerge indicates that the billing country IS one of the search fields on the Order Admin page, though in my experience that doesn’t appear to be the case.

I can’t understand why the developers would allow you to search orders for a city but not a country, and only if its in the billing address but not the shipping address. If I wanted to find all orders shipped to X country, a reasonable search in my opinion, they offer no way to do that?

In any case, the link does explain how one might remedy the situation but why users would have to add code to do something this obvious instead of the developers simply including it beats me.

I don’t recall that scenario happening but since the report was for the past year, it’s a possibility that someone else here may have created/deleted a product and an order for that specific product. The price point is what seems most unlikely for a single product on our site. Which, perhaps, is why it was deleted. ; )

    Thanks for the quick response!

    Nice!

On my system (Mac) those icons are so tiny I didn’t recognize them as clickable “edit” pencils.

I just noticed that the plug-in DEACTIVATED itself after the update. Is that normal?

Following wwwolf’s lead (thanks for the heads up), I also successfully updated to 3.6.
