In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Fails to update to 3.6.0This update issue started for me the day 3.6 became available. I tried several times that day and a few times every other day since. I have several sites and dozens of plugins. The other sites and plugins appear to update normally, except for BackupWP. So I don’t think it’s just word.org. I finally succeeded in manually downloading the file but because of this issue I have held off updating manually in case the problem is 3.6 itself.
Is 3.6 working for everyone who has successfully updated?

In reply to: [BackUpWordPress] Fails to update to 3.6.0I just tried to update again at 10:45 am CDT and the update failed. Yesterday I tried to download the update manually and it also failed (could’t find page) but today I got the update to download. I’m holding off updating to 3.6 until I’m sure there isn’t going to be another update five minutes from now.
@katmoody – I agree with betyonfire that the updates are too frequent — especially because every update generates another backup regardless of the current backup schedule. So if you are going to update the plugin, how about fixing that, or explaining how to turn off that “feature”. 😉
Thanks for the speedy reply!
Now that I know where the files are kept I can delete them myself or prevent my backup from backing up that folder.
Works for me.
BIG THANKS! to Andrew @oxdeer
II tried contacting him yesterday via his website but the contact form refused to submit.
I googled around and found another contact form with his name, verified it was the developer, and let him know about this thread on the support forum.
When this happened some time ago, I contacted him and he did respond and was able to fix it.
Crossing my fingers he’s still working on WP plugins. None of the competing plug-ins I looked at had all the features I want – caching IG posts in the WP library; adding all the tags and comments; controlling speed and number of posts, etc.
Just a hunch based on my previous experience. The fact that you also experienced the same thing and another Instagram plugin I tried doesn’t seem to work indicates its a good possibility its related to IG itself.
But if you haven’t found anything regarding an API change, we’ll just have to wait until the developer responds.
Yes, this happened once before and it was an Instagram API change.
I just installed the slider on a test site and same thing happened. I also tried a competing plugin and also got a blank space.

I would also like Aftership to simply default to the only carrier I use. It seems a simple thing, to set a default. I shouldn’t have to click, then hold, and then slide down to the only carrier in the list. Sure it’s not a big deal — but neither should having the software default to the only method in the list.
It would make entering dozens of tracking numbers at the end of each day go a lot faster.

In reply to: Missing emoticons or smiliesThanks for that.
I wonder if there are additional instructions for WordPress.net?
😉

In reply to: Missing emoticons or smiliesThanks. Your solution appears to work. I knew how to do that but worried it wouldn’t show up on other OSes.
I’m still wondering why the “official” information here:
doesn’t work on my sites.
I followed the simple instructions but nothing shows up.
Have those instructions been deprecated?

In reply to: One-Click Core Updates Not Showing UpNot sure how this particular WP install was originally done since it was some time ago, but your explanation sounds very plausible.
I thought I started with a 3.x version, that continued to update until 4.1, but I may be wrong.
Thanks!

In reply to: One-Click Core Updates Not Showing UpThanks for the suggestion. I mentioned in my original post that I intentionally added the line
define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, true );
in the hope of reversing whatever had caused the odd behavior.
The lines you said to look for were *never* there in the first place.
And yes, I just checked again to make sure.
I have been running several WordPress sites for years and have never encountered this failure to auto update (since the feature was added) on any of them. My other sites have updated to 4.3 but not this one.
I know how to manually update, but I’m stumped why this happened on this one site in the first place.
I was hoping someone else had run into this problem and had a fix or explanation.

In reply to: [Weight Based Shipping for WooCommerce] Package vs Product WeightYou mentioned shipping first class international and “if it’s under 13 ounces.”
We don’t do a lot of international shipping but the USPS rate charts for first class do not use the 13 ounce cut off. I just checked rates to Great Britain and also to Austria and the first class rate covers packages up to 64 ounces. There are price changes every four ounces after 8 ounces.
The 13 ounce cut off for USPS first class does apply to shipping WITHIN the US.

In reply to: [Weight Based Shipping for WooCommerce] Package vs Product WeightYes, it’s a paid plugin. Don’t remember the price but that sounds about right.
I agree, you probably wouldn’t want to spend that amount in your situation.
Good luck liquidating.
