Thanks for the great work-around explanation.

Unfortunately I never got a reply from the developer of this plugin so I ended up with the Woocommerce USPS plug in. I can enter various box sizes and individual product weights and dimensions in the backend, and it calculates what will fit in what box or boxes and then grabs up-to-date USPS rates directly, also calculating the various US distance rates. It handles 1st Class, Priority and Express. It works for most foreign countries as well. You can also add extra fees per shipment that the customer doesn’t see as “extra” (I use that for Endicia’s insurance fees for overseas shipments).

So far its been surprisingly accurate. YMMV.

There is something odd going on with this plug in – I deactivated it when the reviews, changelog and support threads suddenly disappeared but the updates kept coming.

Thank you! I eagerly look forward to this capability.

Deleting slider images one by one is tedious – the point of computers and software is to REMOVE tediousness.

I agree. The source option is confusing to me as well. What does “field above!” mean? The two options above it aren’t fields, they are radio buttons.

I logged in to ask a similar question about the media library option and found this recent post. Thanks to jetonr for answering but I already understood the “Insert Images” part. But the “field above!” text explanation isn’t clear.

I also noticed my site backups have ballooned recently and checking my media library I noticed lots of old Instagram pics. Do I have to delete those manually? Is that safe to do (i.e., it won’t affect your plugin)?

Haha – that’s funny. I know I can be stupid sometimes but this is one of my favorite faux pas of all time.

    Dan,

The plugin I recommended can be used in a variety of ways. In testing I set it up with wholesale prices only (no retail) and it requires someone to be approved and set up as a wholesale customer to see anything in the wholesale side of the store. Retail customers don’t know it exists except for the wholesale application buried in the menus. Unless they fill out the application completely and get approved, they don’t see anything except the retail store.

The reason I like the retail and wholesale in one place – you can simply duplicate retail products and then set them up as wholesale and make any big or small changes you want. In our case our wholesale version of our products are bundled together in packs of 3.

The wholesale customer can log in and see the wholesale side of the site and if they want to see the retail store, they simply log out and visit the same site like any retail customer.

I’m not saying the Stephen Sherrard plugin is better than the other guy’s (the one responding above) because I don’t remember if I tested the other guy’s plugin. But I did test enough wholesale plugins to find out most are made by programmers who don’t actually run a wholesale site and therefore left out things I needed.

    YMMV

I tried several wholesale plugins – there’s a wide price range – but I liked Stephen Sherrard’s the best – and the price is reasonable. Great support, well-thought out and he uses his wife’s fashion store as the testing site.

    Good luck.

My New Issues field is not blank as I noted in my original post. I also do not have any problems with my site like you apparently do. I was trying to understand why I got the “Problems Found” and “No security problems detected” messages in Wordfence at the same time, after a scan.

It appears you are having more serious problems and you should probably post your issue in a separate message on this forum.

Woocommerce support ignored this one – so be it, it’s busy here.

Luckily I kept bugging my host’s support staff and they came up with this solution, included below because it was indeed related to Woocommerce. Note that before the update, our server worked with WC perfectly:

I went through WooCommerce’s source code and found the cURL code that connects over to Simplify. I didn’t see any mention of SSLv3 being forced, so I dug further and found the URL that your addon uses to communicate with Simplify.

A simple “openssl s_client -connect api.simplify.com:443” failed because your server did not trust “Entrust”‘s root certificate. Entrust is another SSL provider, much like GeoTrust/Verisign/etc, and they are a newer company so their root certificates were not included in your OpenSSL installation back when CentOS 5 was released.

I manually updated the list of root certificates that your server trusts, and I’m now able to connect to api.simplify.com using OpenSSL, so I imagine it will work for cURL now within your code.

It did work, and we’re back in business.

I’m dislillusioned with some plugin authors these days. I have had several other plugins in the past few months which I allowed the updates and immediately had problems.

There are some plugins that I have removed or simply don’t update because of this. I also have to keep every old plugin version easily available so I can go back quickly.

I DON’T WANT TO BE BETA TESTER with my ecommerce site!

Okay, rant over. Please fix and test, test, test.

I removed the DGTM plugin and went back to WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration.

    The site is starktravingcat.com.

The PDF download problem was related to the browser. After encountering other oddities, I reinstalled Firefox and everything works fine now.

Stll wondering how to fix the Country field on the PDF output.

    Version is 3.81.

I updated another of our sites with similar plugins to 4.0 and had several problems so we’re happy to let others beta test until 4.1.

    IGNORE THIS POST

It was meant for another plugin that I had open at same time.

    Trying your plugin right now…

My theme’s functions.php doesn’t include that line but is there a functions.php in any other location?
