You are absolutely right it’s annoying to fix custom solutions and we understand your intention not to recommend our plugin. We are really sorry you need to make changes in the custom solutions after some of our plugin’s updates. This is really frustrating.
The thing is it’s difficult for us to guarantee that custom solutions developed outside our public API will always work properly. That’s due to the fact that we can’t possibly know the workflow of these custom solutions and what elements they are based on, for example, on what particular CSS selectors or features of the HTML structure.
We understand that you’re an experienced developer who supports a large number of sites. Hopefully, you understand that custom solutions based on an open-source code like our plugin may be broken from any change made to it. After all, we do not know where exactly in the code something gets changed with a custom solution.
Then again, this does not apply to the public API as we fully support backward compatibility of the API and we commit to support it further. Therefore, we would like to offer using the official public API in the future. Custom solutions based on it will not be broken after the plugin’s updates.
We totally understand that some changes in the Ecwid plugin may affect third-party solutions that are not related to the API, and we are really sorry about this.
You’re right that it would be great to inform developers about the exact parts we plan to change in the next update in advance. Therefore, all changes made in the plugin are currently described in the changelog. You can view its details to get an idea about the exact changes we make in the new version and what elements in your code may be affected by this update.
Hopefully, we can come to a solution allowing us to work together further. It would be great if you told us more about your custom solutions, describe what elements they are based on, what they do. We may think about the way we can change our API so that it fits your custom solutions and keep you in mind when updating the plugin.
Hello,
Ecwid has the official API documentation for developers: https://developers.ecwid.com/api-documentation
Thousands of developers and partners use it for their purposes. We constantly maintain its backward compatibility to make sure nothing breaks down.Ecwid itself is constantly growing, which includes changes in the plugin, core service and the API as well (keeping the backward compatibility of the API in mind, of course).
We add new features and fix bugs, thus things change all the time. It’s inevitable, otherwise, there would be no progress in Ecwid development at all.
If third-party solutions such as plugins or other modifications are based on some part of Ecwid that is not a public API (HTML structure, internal plugin code and methods in it, file names, etc.), they may be broken one day as we always improve and change Ecwid. So it’s up to a developer to decide whether to use some undocumented features or not.
If we’re talking about “Product Advisor for Ecwid”, it was using exactly these undocumented elements mentioned above. It’s broken now, right. But well, that plugin was last updated 5 years ago and after that, we contacted the developers on the issue. However, they still haven’t fixed that, which looks like a reason to consider to stop using that plugin.
Of course, we know that someone may have their own custom solutions and plugins that work with Ecwid in an undocumented way. Since there’s no way to track all such use cases, we’d love to get some feedback from you on what you’re achieving with these modifications exactly. What do you change in Ecwid? Which methods do you use?
We will try to take it into consideration and probably create an appropriate API or recommend the existing one. Of course, if you start using the official API methods mentioned above, things won’t be getting broken all the time.
Waiting to hear from you, feel free to send the details at support@ecwid.com.
Thank you!Forum: Reviews
In reply to: [Ecwid by Lightspeed Ecommerce Shopping Cart] Works wellThank you so much for the feedback! We really appreciate that!
Feel free to contact if any questions appear. We’ll be glad to help!Joe,
Our developers will take a look at the global Ecwid plugin changes as well as analyze how the changes affect the third-party plugins you’ve mentioned. It would also be really helpful if you could allow our developers to take a look at one of your own custom plugins, so that they could see what it’s based on. This will help us understand how you use the Ecwid plugin with your custom ones and what improvements can be made on our side to the Ecwid plugin’s structure.
If you run into any issues in the future, we would really appreciate if you could provide us with the details from the previous post – screenshots of the errors, your troubleshooting workflow, your website address. Please feel free to send them at support@ecwid.com. Thank you!
Hi there,

– The “Show description under the image” option should be enabled;

Hi there,
It’s Pixie from Ecwid Customer Care Team.
We are terribly sorry about the issue you faced and such a long response time here.
Please, let me explain what happened—this was a scheduled update of our plugin which went a little wrong, as a result our version of the plugin 6.7.2 caused the issue with WordPress pages. We resolved this issue some time later and the new version of the plugin (6.7.3) has been released. To fix the issue, please, update the plugin in your WordPress admin panel > Plugins > find Ecwid and click “Update”. You can also download the latest version here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ecwid-shopping-cart/
We are really sorry for the delayed reply here. We posted all the updates on our official status page here: https://status.ecwid.com/ and totally forgot to update this WP thread. It’s totally our fault, shame on us, really. We’ll make sure that it won’t happen again. Hope that you can forgive us for that.
Please, keep in mind that you can always contact our Support team directly via live chat here: https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/requests/new or email us at support@ecwid.com. If you face any difficulties with your Ecwid plugin, just let us know—we’ll do our best to sort everything out.
Again, we’re truly sorry both about the issue and the silence regarding this.
Thank you for your understanding.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Ecwid by Lightspeed Ecommerce Shopping Cart] eCWID Customer login formHello John,
This is Daria from Ecwid Customer Care Team.
First of all, thank you so much for your message! We really appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us. This helps understand the user experience better. I’d like to ask one more thing: can you provide an example of the perfect sign-in workflow for you and your business? Is it just a standard login/password form or something else? I will pass your feedback to our product management team for review, so we will take it under consideration for future updates. Thank you again.
As for our current workflow, in the following thread: https://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42514 our support agents already explained that with our new sign-in feature we improved the login for customers in terms of the order history. Also, this way of login via email is considered more secure as only the person who has access to the email can get into the account, etc. I won’t post them here again, as you already read them on our forums. I also see that you contacted us on this matter via live chat and our agent has already enabled the old version of login with email and password for your account using our internal tools, so, please, check it in your store.
I hope this will help! Please, feel free to contact our Customer care team directly via live chat inside your Ecwid Control Panel (“Get help” link) or via email at support@ecwid.com. We will be happy to help you with any requests you may have.
Thank you!
Thank you for your reply!
I see that you’re discussing this question via mail currently. Our agent, Anastasia, has sent a reply to your email address we—-a@–ail.com.
Please, check your inbox.
Thank you for your reply.
I’ve reached out to our Customization team and asked them if they developed a similar custom footer menu for other merchants. They said there was one similar request. Here is what it looks like – screenshot (please, disregard the red circles on the screenshot, there was another custom development for this store). At the moment, this merchant redesigned their store and doesn’t use the duplicated footer menu anymore.
Anyways, our Customization team can create a similar duplicated menu for your store.
If you have your own developer or you’re going to create the custom menu yourself, you can reach out to our support for developers – https://developers.ecwid.com/contact. They will help you with the Ecwid API.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions for us.
Hi there!
This is Valerie from Ecwid team. Thank you for reaching out.
If I get you right, you want to duplicate the footer menu so that it’s displayed above the products section in your store.
There is no built-in way to do it, I’m sorry. Luckily, it’s possible with the help of custom coding based on the Ecwid API. You can hire a developer to do it or contact our Customization team at https://ecwidcom.typeform.com/to/vIlijv. They will reach out to you with more details and a quote.
Just in case, you can also move the footer menu block to the top of the page with the help of CSS codes.
Here is an instruction on how to add CSS codes to your store – https://support.ecwid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000160869-Adding-CSS-codes-to-your-store.
Here are the codes you can use to move the footer menu section to the top of the page:
.ec-size .ec-store__content-wrapper { display: flex; flex-direction: column; } .ec-size .product-details , .ec-size .ec-grid { order: 2; } .ec-size .ec-pager { order: 3; } .ec-size .ec-footer { order: 1; }Here is what it looks like (screenshot).
I hope, it helps. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions for us.
Hello,
It’s Mary from the Ecwid Customer Care team.
I’ve consulted with my colleagues and they informed me that there is an option to add such search option to your three stores. My colleagues will be able to create a custom search page and custom search widget. Search results will show products from all three stores. But I should draw your attention to the fact that there is a drawback. There is no option to sync cart pages the same way. Therefore when customers search for some products, they add one product from the store 1 to the cart, then open the search again, go to store 2, add a product from the store 2 to the cart – there will be two carts created. It follows that customers will need to go through checkout twice in each store separately.
If you are Ok with this, then you can send a request to Ecwid customization team here https://ecwidcom.typeform.com/to/vIlijv and they will contact you by email to discuss the details.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
