Hi Rachel,
May I have your blog’s web address, please? Thanks! The easiest thing would be to modify the image so that nothing needs to be moved, but to do what you require in CSS, just shift the heading to the left and then shift the canvas the same amount to the right.
.shareaholic-share-buttons-container .shareaholic-share-buttons-heading {margin-left:-30px;} [data-app="share_buttons"] {margin-left:30px;}Or target specific apps if you only need this style applied to certain share bars.
Try targeting .shareaholic-canvas instead… This will apply the style to all of the apps. If you’d like to only target a specific one, use [data-app-id=”xxx”] instead of .shareaholic-canvas where the x’s are replaced with the app’s unique ID number, which you can find with Inspect Element or through the Edit panel for the app on the Available Apps settings screen.
Hi @phattrance,
I apologize for the time it has taken to respond. I just ran across your post today. Here’s an article to help guide you through manual placement. See if this helps fix the problem.
Hi Rajesh,
Please, take a look at this article concerning W3C validation. I hope you find this information useful.
Hi Jen,
I could tell you how to accomplish this, but it would require some manual placement of code, and as we are about to retire this version of our plugin, in favor of the one we have in active development, having you go through the steps may be more trouble than it’s worth.
Now, a better option would be to transition over to our latest release where you have many more button style options and finer control over the placement of the apps we offer.
We’ve completely rewritten the share buttons app along with the entire plugin to offer a cleaner interface, more customization options and greater flexibility in tailoring the sharing experience as well as a easier setup process to get you rolling.
Let me know if you run into any problems!
If you use Chrome, you can sample-edit the CSS for any page by utilizing the Inspect Element tool (right-click anywhere on a page to access this through the shortcut menu and quickly jump to the HTML that corresponds with the element you clicked to pull up the menu).
This is a great way to directly see how different styles will affect the layout of your page (or the elements contained) before you make any actual changes to your files. I think this will help you with tinkering to get the exact look you wish to achieve. 🙂 Good luck!
Hi Liltiger,
Would it be possible for you to check if BuddyPress is indeed contributing to the issue with the grey bar? If there is a conflict, I’d like to make sure it gets reported so that we can investigate.
Before testing, clear your browser cache/history to make sure the issue is still present, then deactivate BuddyPress and empty all caches in any caching plugins and also your browser cache; now, check for this problem again.
Could you also see if the issue appears when not using the manual shortcode while both of our plugins are active? And I’d like to find out if your theme is a factor, which you can check by performing the same test (both plugins active, then deactivating BuddyPress) while in a clean install of the Twenty Ten theme.
If you find that deactivating BuddyPress fixes the issue, I can open a ticket for us to do some further testing–a screenshot that shows the problem as you see it would also be a great help. Thanks!
Hi umbertoguardascione,
I’ve posted a response in this thread if you’d like to have a look, and thanks for your support! 🙂
Hi Guys,
The official service buttons (Additional Buttons set) provided in our previous version is no longer available in version 7, but complete sharing functionality is retained. We had some compatibility reports with several of these buttons in our old plugin that caused complications as these buttons are not coded by us, but by the services from which they are offered.
So, we were left with our hands tied in solving the problem these instances. This upset some of our publishers, which contributed in our decision to leave them off of the new version–that way, we are able to address any compatibility issues that arise within the plugin as it has been entirely coded by us.
The Facebook Like button is offered in many Facebook-related plugins, and whether this button will be reintroduced into our revamped version at a later date has yet to be determined, but for now, the Facebook Send function, Tweet, and Google+ sharing options are still available in our standard button selection. 🙂
Stick around as our plugin evolves. We have many enhancements planned, and it is still possible that the Like button (and other official service buttons) may be added to this list.
Hi eldenroot,
1) There are size options in your settings. Just head to the Available Apps page and click the Edit button to customize your share bar.
3) Our apps should be visible in mobile. The new plugin is fully responsive. Did you add a media query to disable them in mobile, or did they just suddenly stop displaying?
4) If you do not want images used for the Related Content app, you can also select an option to use a plain hyperlink list.
5) The Related Content app shows ‘up to’ five recommendations. This depends on the size of the parent container. If you’d like to decrease the number shown, but keep the responsiveness, you can manually add the app via shortcode into your template file and wrap it with a div that you can style to your width specifications.
** but if you are not wanting images to display for the recommendations and opt to use a hyperlink list, you won’t need to worry about #5.
Also, the security warning in Internet Explorer, clear your cache before checking again; then, could you grab a screenshot of this as well? Thank you!
Hi! I just took a look at your site and see Related Content loading in your blog. If you are still having trouble seeing it on your end, try clearing your browser’s cache and reloading the page.
There shouldn’t be any issues in version 7.0.3.4 up from 7.0.3.3, but if there are problems specific to the latest release, we’d love to find out more information so that we can investigate.
If you could please update to our latest version and check for the problem on your Android again, that would be very helpful. Make sure you clear the cache/history in your browser, and if the issue is still present, I’d like you to check the following pages to see if the share buttons are displaying. This will let us know whether the problem is site-specific or a larger issue that needs to be addressed.
This is the latest post on our blog. Scroll to the bottom of the post to check for the share buttons. Also, look for any grey box similar to what you are encountering when viewing your site. Please, check for the problem on this page as well.
If the grey box is visible on either of these pages and you are able to provide a screenshot, that would be great. Seeing how things appear on your end will help us know what to look for on ours. Thanks for your assistance! 🙂
Mren,
Are the buttons visible in other browsers that you have tested, such as popular ones: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera?
If you’d like to see the Related Content app in action, it is live on our blog. Here’s our latest article with both Share Buttons and Related Content enabled: https://blog.shareaholic.com/2013/07/understanding-the-new-shareaholic-for-wordpress-interface-and-configuration-settings/
Hope this is helpful! 🙂
Hi ckubs,
Could you do me a quick favor and check a couple pages in your Firefox browser to see if the apps appear for you? I’m unable to test your site in Firefox 3.6, but I’d like to rule out any other possibilities.
This is our share buttons product page:
https://shareaholic.com/publishers/sharing/And scroll to the end of this blog post to see if our share buttons are visible on your end.
Thanks!
