Our buttons function as a way for your readers to share your blog content with their social networks. We do not have a feature that redirects users to your social pages.

Once you’ve made your selections on the SexyBookmarks options page and saved your changes, the buttons are automatically inserted in the locations specified in your menu placement settings; such as, if you have selected that they appear on posts and below content, they should be visible on your blog posts above the comments box, but below the article.

If you find that the buttons are not visible on your posts, there could be a few different explanations. It’s possible that your theme is built in such a way that automatic placement fails OR custom post types are used. Hi ediblist! Let me see if I can help. First, the issue is specifically with the deprecated italics tag. The grey bar is not present when using emphasis, which has replaced italics.

Below is the CSS associated with the issue. It was likely included as a patch to a previous problem; so, we don’t want to open up a hole by removing it on our end (until identifying why it was added). However, we are currently working on revamping the plugin and cleaning up the underlying architecture.

Now, what we need to do is override the declarations that are pertinent, which would be for the border and display properties.

Paste the following into your theme’s head:

Hi! The problem was corrected within a few hours of its report. Let’s see if we can get this working for you. First, deactivate any caching plugins, then enter the SexyBookmarks options page, make sure ‘NEW MODE’ is enabled, scroll to the bottom of the page and press the ‘Save Changes’ button. Now, clear your browser’s cache, then head to your site and refresh its content by holding down the Shift key while reloading the page.

If the buttons are still invisible, open http://www.your-site-here.com/wp-content/uploads/shareaholic/spritegen/sprite.png in your browser and hold down your Shift key again while reloading this file. If it remains blank, as a last resort, perform a clean install of our plugin following this guide.

It looks like the error could be caused by a few different problems, but appears to most frequently concern nearing the maximum storage limit. If it has been confirmed that this is not the case, you can manually install our plugin: http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

Additional Notes:
Usually, the Default Path and Custom Path should match; so, if you find that for some reason they do not and all else fails, copy the Default Path into the Custom Path input box, and that should do the trick. 🙂

Hey, everyone! Engineering was alerted to this today, and they have been diligently working on the problem. This issue concerns our server and retrieving the dynamic sprite sheet, which optimizes page load-time.

The reason turning off new mode allows you to see the buttons is that it pulls a sprite sheet from your plugin files which contains all of the available networks, not just the ones you selected (larger image file).

Also, when new mode is turned off, you lose some of the special features found in SexyBookmarks, such as share counts, the Additional Buttons set, tooltips, and the use of a background image (e.g., sharing is caring).

Classic Bookmarks should not have a visibility problem if you’d prefer to switch to that set while we work on the spritegen issue, or you can opt to turn off new mode in SexyBookmarks as explained above.

The problem will be corrected as soon as possible. This is high priority. Thanks for contacting us!
