In reply to: [Prevent Direct Access - Protect WordPress Files] Doesn’t workHi Paul,
Sorry for the late response.Similarly, The Rewrite Rule will change the original link to the protected links are changed as well:
- Default URL: domain.com/wp-content/uploads/_pda/file.pdf
- Raw URL: domain.com/index.php?pda_v3_pf=/_pda/file.pdf
You can understand default URL, and raw URL are both link protection. But the default URL has better structure.
As you said, the Raw URL is working so I think you are enabling Keep Raw URLs.
You have to block access to our_pdafolder to prevent your user access to domain.com/wp-content/uploads/_pda/file.pdf

Hi redtailboas,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I will answer your question below:
First, I can’t determine if I’m using NGINX or Apache. The network tab in developer tools shows nothing about this information.
– You can reach out support of hosting provider to know which server you are using.I’m enabling prevent hotlinking and restrict media library options but all the images still able to access via direct link.
So, do I need to individually protect each and every image I want protected? I tried this but it was still accessible.
– This could be a cache issue or about Rewrite rule incorrect, to check this issue we will need information about your hosting server, cache server. If I can get it working, I’m using Woocommerce and need to have the original file downloadable. Is this possible or I need to use the generated file link?
The problem is I will have 10s of thousands of images I need protected and downloadable. Changing each link to a custom PDA link will be near impossible. How do I protect a directory so the images within are only downloadable when accessed by my site, not via hotlinking?? Sounds so simple but seems impossible.
-We have many ways to protect your files\images which don’t need to setup protect each file\image like: Search and Replace for image embedded in you pages\post, protect your file by category….Thanks again for reaching out to our support and let us know if you have any more questions. In reply to: [PPWP - Password Protect Pages] Translation not workingHello @webvd,
Thank you for letting us know.
At the moment, we haven’t supported translation for forms created by the Smart Restriction extension yet. Can you please confirm if you are using the Smart Restriction extension?
Don’t worry. You can adjust the labels just by modifying some plugin codes. If you’re familiar with coding, we can guide you through the steps accordingly. Alternatively, we can help you do so.
Just let us know. You can contact us at support(at)wpfolio.com

In reply to: [Prevent Direct Access - Protect WordPress Files] Q re Subscription TransferHi wpjrt57,
We recommend that you use the organization’s email to register, it will save you unnecessary trouble when using our plugin. When you use the organization’s email, even if you hand responsibility off and someone take it, you just need simply hand over the organization’s email and you also don’t have to contact us to transfer the Subscription.
This rule is mainly to help customers who have the same situation as you case. E.g: they no longer work on the organization and organization will miss our support emails ( Renewal email, support email…..).
