In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Stats 1.6.3 breaks get_shortlink()Please use
wp_get_shortlink. The genericget_shortlinkwas removed because a new shortlink framework was added to WordPress.lsvichet, could you start a new thread for your error? It is unrelated to the error that started this thread and it’s hard enough for little brains like mine to keep track.
1.7.2 is available now. It removes the footer check pending investigation of various errors.

In reply to: word press statsmacmanx: The cookie is established in your browser when you log in and it expires at some later time. Normally it will expire when you close your browser. When you check “Remember Me” the cookie survives browser restarts. But either way, if you can view your admin panel you do have the cookie.

In reply to: word press statsThe new version, 1.7, has a new option to let you count or not count users who are logged in. (It has nothing to do with the Remember Me option.)
If you have this problem, please try downloading 1.7 again and installing fresh. It is supposed to detect that you have the correct code. If this winds up causing more problems than it solves, I’ll get rid of it…
TonyRLA: Thanks! My avatar is actually a photograph I took of myself. Any resemblance to historical figures is coincidental, even if desired. 🙂
Yes, that was my fault. It is difficult to test the automatic upgrade process when developing a plugin. As soon as I tried it myself, I saw the problem and uploaded a patch that should prevent the notice for cases like yours. Thanks for the report.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] WordPress Stats and API Key ChangeYou set yourself up as the owner of that blog, as far as the WordPress.com database is concerned. You need to go to your WordPress.com dashboard, view the blog’s stats page, and scroll to the bottom. There should be a form to help you add the other user.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Smiley face – WHY!?!?!? I thought I was hacked…Stats are counted by logging the requests for that smiley image. It has been that way since 2005. When you are logged in you don’t see it because we don’t count the visits of logged-in users.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Stats stopped working after upgrade to 1.6.3Are you interested in helping me find out why it stopped working on your blog? (It works for me; otherwise I would not have released 1.6.3.)
