In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Elementor ToggleHi @yiimori,
The PDF viewer size is calculated on the initial page load but with AJAX container such as toggle sections from Elementor, the viewer size is calculated and doesn’t adjust further as the panels are opened and closed because the event calling the calculation isn’t called again which is even more problematic as you’ve noticed with mobile breakpoints. To fix this, please see https://wp-pdf.com/kb/the-viewer-doesnt-display-at-all-or-at-wrong-size-when-inside-a-javascript-based-tab-or-ajax-page-transitions/

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Access-Control-Allow-Origin Fail to fetch errorHi @deterius,
The cause of the issue is that GoDaddy is trying to redirect the document loading through secureservercdn.net which is resulting in a “No Access-Control-Allow-Origin header” error. As you’ve already made the adjustment to the htaccess file, the next step would be to set up a CORS rule for the CDN. The following documentation has the required information needed to permit access for the document to be loaded from a CDN: https://wp-pdf.com/kb/hosting-pdfs-on-other-services-such-as-amazon-s3/.
Once you have the CORS set up correctly, you may see an Invalid PDF Structure / Failed to Fetch error depending on how the CDN for your account is set up. If you do, you should have GoDaddy support create a Post Processing rule to stop anything going to .pdf to remain with the domain and URI path.
Here is and example of the rule that has been added successfully on a WPEngine site (the same situation as you are seeing—I don’t have an example of GoDaddy’s rule unfortunately) to rectify the issue:
#https?://sitenamecdn-wpengine\.netdna-ssl\.com/(.*)\.pdf# => https://sitename.com/$1.pdf<https://sitename.com/$1.pdf>;This procedure has worked successfully for other users hosting with CDNs.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] after update to v4.3 can’t add pdf embedder to postsHi @ghubbs,
The issue is due most likely due to caching but there are some steps to take to identify and/or resolve the issue:
- Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. That will solve many weird JavaScript issues.
- Flushing Managed host caches. Managed WP hosting often has special caches. If your host has a “Purge Varnish” or “Flush Memcache” tool, try that. You can ask your provider to flush memcache and Varnish for you if necessary.
- Resave your Permalink settings. In a few cases, third-party installers, such as Softaculous, creating sites with slightly incorrect rules in the .htaccess file. While these rules would not have been a problem in previous versions, in WordPress 5+, having these incorrect rules can break the REST API. Resaving the permalinks on the Settings » Permalinks page in WordPress will fix these rules in the .htaccess file, and possibly fix “failed” errors in the new editor.
- Make sure you have the Visual Editor enabled. Visit your Users » Your Profile page. The first option will disable the visual editor. Make sure that option is unchecked, and save your profile settings.
- If you have the Gutenberg Developer plugin installed and activated, please disable this—we have heard of issues with the editor and other plugins’ updates throwing this error, and this may be the case here.
If you have any other questions or require additional assistance, please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Shortcode is adding to the AddressHi @lestexas60,
That is not the normal behaviour when inserting the PDF Embedder shortcode using the PDF Embedder or Classic editor blocks.
When using a theme that has a module based layout builder such as Elementor, WPBakery, etc. you need to use a Text, HTML, Raw Code, or Shortcode module to insert the PDF successfully. Most of these drag and drop editors use their own propriety method to access the Media Gallery with breaks the automatic shortcode insertion by the PDF Embedder plugin. You will need to add this manually to your content. I would suggest keeping your Media Gallery open in another browser tab for convenience.
With the layout editor, use a module that supports plain text, raw HTML, or code:
- Manually enter
[pdf-embedder url=" "], - From your Media Gallery tab, select the PDF you want to embed and copy the File URL (triple click to highlight, Ctrl+V / right-click copy),
- Paste the URL into the shortcode,
- Publish the page / post.
This method will add the required shortcode to embed the PDF so that the PDF will be displayed in the viewer on the front end of your site.
Just as an FYI, when I tried to follow the URL to your PDF I got a 404 Not Found error. If the PDF can not be navigated to in the browser, then the plugin can also not access it to display it.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] 401 erronHi @vivian107,
A response status 401 happens when the request in unauthorized. This is likely a problem in your local configuration, either your application that requires authentication or CORS is not configured properly.
The other alternative would be that you have Internet Download Manager on the browser and it is preventing the scripts from loading correctly. If you do have IDM, can you please try disabling that and loading the PDF again.
If you require further assistance troubleshooting this issue, can you please provide a link to the page or post in question so I can view the embedded PDF. You can send that information to contact@wp-pdf.com

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Limitado, no me gusta la version gratuitaHi @loviedo,

I’m sorry to hear that you are disappointed in the features of the free version of the plugin. There is the ability to set the size of the embedded PDF viewer in the plugin settings as the site default, as well as on individual documents using the block editor options when inserting the PDF to your page or post content. The size of the embedded viewer is then limited by the space available by your page or post template and the parent element containing the embedded viewer.
The Premium and Secure versions of the PDF Embedder do have the option to open the PDF in full screen should the user wish to view the document in a larger space.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Stopped working after latest WordPress updateHi @jodani
I took a look at the page and saw that the scripts are not being loaded. There are two possibilities here:
- The plugin is not active. The plugin did get deactivated on many sites with the 4.1 update due to a deployment issue. The plugin was not automatically reactivated when it subsequently updated to 4.2. Please double check to make sure that the plugin is in fact activated.
- I noticed that you have the Autoptimizely caching plugin on the site. Caching of the scripts can cause problems. To rectify this error, you will need to exclude the following URIs for the plugin scripts from the Autoptimize (and any other caching tools):
- /wp-content/plugins/pdfembedder/js/all-pdfemb-basic.min.js,
- /wp-content/plugins/pdfembedder/js/pdfjs/pdf.min.js, and
- /wp-content/plugins/pdfembedder/js/pdfjs/pdf.worker.min.js
The plugin scripts are already minified so you will not be losing any efficiency or load speed by excluding them. Be sure to flush any caches after you exclude the scripts so that they can be loaded by the site again and the embed viewer should be displayed correctly once this has been done.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] PDF Embedder with elementor popupHi @hrizvi
I did send you a detailed email with the same information but for anyone else I will include it here also:
Using a module that uses AJAX to open from the loaded page can create issues as they prevent the PDF Embedder from calling it’s own scripts when they are opened. To resolve this, you need to do a bit of coding as per https://wp-pdf.com/kb/the-viewer-doesnt-display-at-all-or-at-wrong-size-when-inside-a-javascript-based-tab-or-ajax-page-transitions/

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] PDF Embedder Secure plugin: Only secure PDF’s?Hi @sodapops82,
There are a couple of options available to you:
- If you are still embedding the PDF with the viewer but want to allow the download, use the Classic editor block instead and edit the rendered shortcode with the attribute download=”on”. This will enable the download button on that embedded document only. You can read more about the available shortcode attributes and how to use them here in our FAQ.
- If you want to permit the download via another method external to the embedded viewer, you are going to need to have a second, unsecured copy of the document. If you are only hosting content from your domain, you will need to uncheck that “secure uploads” option and upload the document into the regular /uploads/ directory. Or if you have access to a CDN such as Amazon S3, you could upload your non-secured content there for use by other download options.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to send us an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see the forum posts in a timely fashion and we do normally handle paid / premium support via emails.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] PDF Embedder still looking for the old fileHi @cengoguven,
Glad you have the issue resolved. If the file happened to have the same name, WP may have been trying to serve a cached version which was no longer present.
