As replied elsewhere in these forum threads the Smush.it plugin does a check that the image URL provided from WordPress is within the same exact domain as the site home URL. If like many others you host your images via a sub-domain like http://images.mysite.com or even use a remote Content Delivery Network (CDN) then Smush.it will not work well for you.
While I’m not going to argue the point on the concept of serving images, css, js from a sub-domain.
The reason for removing this support from Smush.it was effecting many other user who are using Content Delivery Networks (CDN). This issue was causing an issue in that Smush.it was run against the local copy of the image but the real image on the CDN was not updating. The Smush.it plugin does not have the ability to update remote images. Only those in the site’s wp-content/uploads folder.
Specific to your setup assume your home URL is http://www.website.com and you serve your images via http://images.website.com for your setup you may be simply pointing back to the same exact image. But the Smush.it plugin cannot determine this from the server. All it knows it the image has a different URL than the home URL. Sure, the Smush.it plugin could attempt to lookup the sub-domain to determine if it was the same IP address as the home URL. But this still does not tell the plugin it is the same exact image. The sub-domain could be pointing to a copy of the image in a different folder on the server.
Will continue to look into this and see if we can come up with a solution which will work for all configurations. Thanks.

In reply to: [Membership 2] Can user approval be applied to certain roles only?Hey there.
This is not currently possible. Sorry.
Maybe something like:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/new-user-approve/
Could help to handle the approval part of the sign up process. You’d have to test that to be sure.
Take care.

In reply to: [Membership 2] sign up button not showingHey there.
Is it showing in the default theme?
Are you using the standard page or shortcode?
Any example links?
Thanks.

you should only have the debug output enabled for Smush.it when using the Bulk Smush.it processing via Media > Bulk Smush.ir. If you have debug output turned on for either Media > Library > Add or Post > Media > Add you will get errors. The reason for this is the upload and process is done via AJAX. So when WordPress sees the Smush.it debug output from the upload processing it thinks an error occurred.

In reply to: [Chat] Dedicated Server crushed after activate this pluginsWhat other plugins are you running. Realize that chat makes AJAX calls to your server via the standard WordPress AJAX hooks. The down side here is for every AJAX call it means WordPress has to be initialized. So if your Chat AJAX interval is set to one second it means this is equal to reloading the page every second for every user participating in chat.
Also, you did not specify how many users were participating in chat. Was it just you?
Lastly, to say you have a beefy dedicated server really does not mean it it properly tuned. I know most hosing companies assume customers who order a dedicated server know what they are doing. So MySQL and Apache are pretty much left out of the box untuned. This may not be the case in your instance. But you might want to double check your MySQL configuration and make sure you at least have MySQL cache enabled with enough memory.
Looking at your first link. When I view the first tab ‘Page Speed’ then click on the row for ‘Optimize images’ which is rated as an A by the way. I see the listing of images. From that listing I see very few image which are from your hosted media library.
Take the first image:
http://i1.wp.com/smellslikeinfinitesadness.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/vista_chino_peace.jpg?resize=300%2C300 could save 15.9KiB (17% reduction).
Not the URL is not your website. This is probably because you are running JetPack which copies your images to the WP site like a CDN (Content Delivery Network). These remote images cannot be processed by Smush.it. Only local images on your site.
Continuing on the images list I see the second image is on your site.
http://www.smellslikeinfinitesadness.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/rain-on-window-glass1.jpg could save 8.5KiB (4% reduction).
So try this. Go to Settings > Media then look for the Smush.it section. You should see a checkbox to enable debug output. Set the checkbox and save the settings. Then head over to Media > Library and find that image in your listing. Check the last column of the image. what does the Smush.it information read? DO NOT CLICK the SMUSH.IT in the column. Instead on that row set the checkbox. Then select the Smush.it option in the dropdown above the media listing. Then the button to the right of the dropdown.
The bulk of the rest of the images listed in the speed test are for theme or plugin images. Theses Smush.it does not and will not process.
Peter Stolwijk,
We found 2736 images in your media library. Be forewarned, it will take at least 136 minutes to process all these images if they have never been smushed before.
Even after i deleted 1300 posts!
IF that is what it says then that is how many images you have. Again the plugin simply reads your Media > Library. So if you go to Media > Library you should find the same number of images.
But the problem is, that i receive every three minutes automatic a new photo to my media. Even after i selected automatically process on upload, the photos are not automatically smushed before it appaears in my library/media.
How are these new images added to your library? The Smush.it plugin by hooking into the media upload action.
I don’t know what the wpematico plugin is or does. Could the problem be with that other plugin? As you stated Smush.it works fine when not using the other plugin.

Peter Stolwijk,
Well I know 4000 images it a lot and admittedly, the bulk processing needs some work to provide a way to back process older images. I’m sure you will hit a timeout. But I have two thoughts.
1. Go to Settings > Media. On that page look for the Smush.it section. Try setting the timeout very high like 300 seconds (5 minutes). Then go to Media > Bulk ad try and see how many images will be processed. You might get as far as 1000 if you are lucky. If you then try Media > Bulk again it should skip the already processed image very quickly.
2. IF the above does not work then again try setting the timeout very high. Then go to Media > Library. In the top-right of the screen click the Screen Options tabs. Then set the number of images to show page page to something higher than the default 20. Try maybe 100. Once the page reloads use the checkbox in the first column to select all the images. The from the action dropdown menu above the table select Bulk. Then click the button next to the drop down. It will take some time but eventually you should make it through the 4000 images.
