Thanks for reaching out @phishingchik. Just to confirm, are you saying that every person logs into the website using the exact same user? If so, every person should be able to sign up to volunteer using their personal email addresses. The volunteer system utilizes someone’s email address to determine if they’ve already signed up. If they have, it doesn’t let them sign up again. If everyone signs up using their individual email addresses, the volunteer system should allow it.

Let me know if I’m misunderstanding the issue. Have a good one.

Thanks for reaching out @wakist and for the kind words! It’s awesome to hear you’ve been enjoying the plugin.

At this point we don’t have imminent plans to add the option to view opportunities by month, but if you’d like to explore a custom programming project, feel free to reach out through our website. From there, I’d be happy to set up a time for us to talk about the details.

    Thanks again for the comment.

Thanks for reaching out @cassyput. We’ve done a little research into GDPR, but have struggled with the gray areas surrounding the new regulations. For example, is the fact that above the volunteer form it says “Express Interest in Volunteering” and that they are willingly providing their personal information via the form enough to constitute consent?

We’re not lawyers of course, which makes this more difficult. I think our plan at this point is to wait and watch the dust settle before making any substantial changes. That way we don’t have to make a lot of unnecessary revisions.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for reaching out @ahinerfeld and sorry you’re running into this issue. Without having a ton of detail about your site it’s hard to provide the best recommendation. When someone tries to create an account, but has previously volunteered, could you possibly show them a message that says something like, “It looks like you may already have an account or have volunteered with us, do you want to update your password?”

You could then link them to the forgot your password section of the site to reset it. Another option is to add a link to the forgot your password section in the email you send when someone signs up to volunteer. You can explain that they can update their password if they want to utilize the other features on the site.

I’m not sure what WordPress permissions someone on your site uses when they create an account, but it’s possible logging in as the “Volunteer” role might be all they need. To answer that question it would be great if you could log in as someone with the volunteer role. If they can interact with the site like any other user, then all you’ll need to do is have volunteers create a password.

There’s a lot to unpack here so let me know if I can clarify anything. Thanks.

Thanks for the helpful feedback Matt. It’s great to know if more people are interested in a particular feature. It allows us to prioritize the features that seem to be most needed.

    Take care.

Thanks for reaching back out @gbbuggs and sorry if I was unclear before. By linking, I simply mean creating links within new location pages to those specific opportunities at that location. For example, you might create a location page called “Miami”. On that page, you would create three links to the volunteer opportunities called “Trash Pickup”, “Plant Flowers” and “Rock Climb Instruction”.

You can do this by using the built-in linking feature of WordPress. You can read more about how to add links in WordPress by visiting http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-guide-on-how-to-add-a-link-in-wordpress/.

I hope that’s helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

It is possible to set up buttons, but you’d have to work with your web developer to make that happen since it would require some coding knowledge. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for clarifying. Are you referring to the page at http://www.habitatebsv.org/Get-Involved/Individual-Volunteer-Opportunities? If so, it’s worth mentioning that while Habitat for Humanity is one of our clients, that website doesn’t use our volunteer management plugin. The note on https://wordpress.org/plugins/wired-impact-volunteer-management/ really just refers to them allowing us to use their photo on that page.

If all you’re looking to do is change the text that says “Find Out More” to something like “Sign Up”, you can accomplish this by utilizing the template system built into the plugin. It does require a comfort with coding including HTML and PHP. Is that something you would like to try? If so, I can point you in the right direction.

    Have a good weekend.

Thanks for reaching out @kghadiali. I’m not entirely sure what you’re referring to, but hopefully I can help.

There isn’t a way for users to sign up without going to the page for each individual volunteer opportunity. If you only have one volunteer opportunity, you can change the main menu at the top of your site to link directly to that opportunity. Although I wouldn’t recommend that if you plan to have multiple opportunities on your site.

Is that helpful? If not, maybe you can provide a little more detail regarding what you’re looking for.

Since we haven’t heard from you in a little while I’m going to mark this as resolved. As always is the case, let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for reaching out @tgonyaw. Unfortunately, at this point there is no easy way to add a mailing address to the contact information section of each user’s profile. If you want to share mailing addresses, the best place to do that would probably be the Board Resources section. It’s not a perfect solution, but it should serve as a workaround.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for reaching out @inspiro. Unfortunately, none of those features are currently included, but I’ve noted each of your suggestions.

At this point we’re trying to be very careful with which features we add since we know that every new feature will make the plugin more complicated. Given that our primary goal has always been simplicity, we want to do our best to keep the plugin as easy to use as possible. That said, we’ve been noting all feature requests and prioritizing what we want to add next.

Have a good one and thanks again.

Thanks for reaching out @gbbuggs. At the moment there are two ways I think you could approach this.

    1. You can put the location of each volunteer opportunity within the main content of each. That would make the location searchable using the default WordPress search.

    2. You could create individual pages for each location and link from those pages to each opportunity at that location. For example, you could have pages called “St. Louis Volunteer Opportunities”, “Chicago Volunteer Opportunities”, “Austin Volunteer Opportunities”, etc. Then you could create a landing page called something like “Volunteer Opportunities” with links to each location’s page. This is a more manual approach than using the shortcodes or option 1 above, but it would allow visitors to see the volunteer opportunities that are specific to a given location.

Let me know if you have any questions.
