How do I install the plugin?

This is the easiest way to install the Wired Impact Volunteer Management plugin:

How do you get started?

Once you’ve downloaded the plugin, you’ll want to adjust the settings to fit your specific needs. You can do this by visiting the Volunteer Management menu and clicking “Help & Settings”. Here, you can choose to include our styles, set a default contact and location for volunteer opportunities, and create a template for your confirmation and reminder emails.

How do you create a new volunteer opportunity?
  1. In the Volunteer Management menu, click “Opportunities”
  2. On the Opportunities page, click “Add Volunteer Opportunity”
  3. Fill in all of the information fields
  4. Click the blue “Publish” button
  5. To display the opportunities on your website, you’ll need to include the following shortcodes in the page content (Visual Editor): [one_time_volunteer_opps] (for one-time opportunities), [flexible_volunteer_opps] (for flexible opportunities)

It’s important to note, you can’t post both types of opportunities on the same page. Please list only one of the shortcodes on each page.

What is the difference between the two types of opportunities?

One-time volunteer opportunities happen at a fixed date and time. One example might be a yearly trivia night fundraiser.

Flexible volunteer opportunities can happen on different days and times. One example might be weekly tutoring. Another example could be looking for a volunteer to help with your social media or blog.

How do I add a volunteer to our database?

You can’t manually add a volunteer to the database. Volunteers appear in the database after signing up for an opportunity.

How do I add notes about a volunteer?
  1. In the Volunteer Management menu, click “Volunteers”
  2. Click the name of the volunteer you’d like to add a note about
  3. Click “Edit Volunteer Info”
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Notes section
  5. Add or edit any notes
  6. Click “Update User” to save any changes
How do I remove a volunteer from a specific opportunity?

If a volunteer is no longer able to help out at a specific opportunity, you can remove them from the sign up list.

  1. Click “Opportunities” from the Volunteer Management menu
  2. Find the opportunity you need to remove the volunteer from
  3. Click the opportunity to edit
  4. Scroll down to the RSVP list, find the volunteers name and click “Remove RSVP”
  5. Confirm their removal by clicking the blue “Remove RSVP” button
How do I create a recurring opportunity?

If you have a recurring opportunity where different people will sign up each time, we recommend creating a one-time opportunity for each date and time. That will allow you to track the RSVPs separately.

If the recurring opportunity will have the same volunteers each time, we’d recommend you create one flexible volunteer opportunity.


Practically Perfect

Plugin is very useful and versatile. The support is great as well. I have solved a lot of issues just perusing the previous posts in the Support section.

Near Perfect!

Our organization works to promote volunteer activities from around a three county area and this plugin has been a near perfect tool for doing that. I do wish there was a way to allow third parties to submit their volunteer activities from a front-facing page on the site, but I suspect that may come in future versions. The support for this plugin has been outstanding with a very responsive developer. I’m very pleased that I found this plugin!


I love this plugin. It makes it so much easier to deal with all the volunteers.

Easy to use, but…

Very intuitive and easy to use. I had an event set up in no time at all. Made the initial mistake of opting out of CSS that ships with plugin. Result was a mess, so I opted in and it looked perfect!


Great plugin, easy to use, reactive team: perfect!

I didn’t found any equivalent to this plugin. It’s exactly what I was looking for.
I’m using it for some non-profit organizations around my city, as a tool to gather some volunteers to help them organizing events.

The only problem I had was about using the plugin in french, as a lot of my future users don’t speak english. I got rapid answers on the forum, and some fixes in a short time.
Now everything is working just fine for my needs, and I’m delighted by the reactivity of the dev team and the pleasant exchanges with Jonathan.
Great example of open source work, with mutual benefit for devs and users!

I like that the front-end is very easy to use for the users, and lots of features are available in the back-end for the admin.

I recommend this plugin for its usefulness and for the feeling that you will not be alone in case of trouble.

Great Start

Great plug-in that does a great basic job of letting non-profits and others manage their volunteer needs. Functionally it is right on target and works out of the box with very little set up.

I would like to see
– more flexibility/control over the CSS
– integration with MailChimp
– admin screen with ability to manually add volunteers

But these are great things for the future. Highly recommend.
