In reply to: Broken Link to themeI understand that themes from PaddSolutions are set so you are forced to display credits in the footer area. Deleting/modifying footer code will mean the theme won’t work. So in a sense yes its malware.
I would strongly suggest using another theme from a reputable source such as the official WordPress theme repository.

In reply to: Free WordPress Theme or Custom? There is nothing wrong with using a free theme from a reputable place like the official themes directory. Themes like twenty ten and twenty eleven are really very good and probably a good option to start with. On the other hand there are many dodgy free themes floating around on the web, so you should be very careful what free themes you use.
Not sure where you are reading about the problems with premium themes. But that’s generally not the case. If you buy from a reputable premium theme shop you will get a high quality product.
The main reason people choose a premium theme is the more unique designs, the features, the quality, the support and updates.

In reply to: Help Choosing a ThemeAll of your points are possible. Your best option to find themes similar to the quite complex designs you linked to would be the news and magazine themes from the commercial / premium theme providers.

In reply to: Help me find the right theme (there are SO MANY!)It’s kind of difficult to recommend specific themes from the information you have provided, but it sort of sounds like you’re after a customizable magazine style theme? Custom menus are in most themes now, and your best option for themes with custom appearance options / category pages etc would be to have a look at latest themes from the premium / commercial providers.

In reply to: What should I do?Websites need to have pretty clear and specific focus around a niche to succeed and build a community. You should be able to tell very quickly what a website is about when you land on it. To be brutally honest I have no idea what your site is about or what your focus is. The url, title, tagline, posts don’t provide any clues and there is no about page or anything else to tell me what your site is about or why or I should join your forum? There are a few things to think about.
Good luck.

In reply to: Picking a ThemeI guess the main thing is find one that has the design, layout and features you want for your site and will be happy with so you don’t need to keep changing it or customising it. If you’re not that technically savvy maybe avoid the themes from the marketplaces like ThemeForest and buy from one of the larger, well established, trusted premium theme providers who provide quality support and regular updates.

In reply to: Theme Development ToolDon’t waste your time trying to make a theme from free WordPress theme generators. The results are usually basic and typically not as good as the many existing quality free themes you get from the WordPress themes directory.
Your best option is probably to find a theme with the core layout and design you want and just modify the css etc to make it unique.

In reply to: Best theme for…I may not be understanding your question correctly. But any theme can support multiple content writers and multi categories. WordPress has roles and capabilities for multiple users http://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities and you can create as many categories as you wish on any theme.
