In-order to display a multipage article consisting of two separate images on your page, the best option would be use a Slideshow gallery layout available within the NextGEN Gallery. With the basic slideshow gallery layout, you can add many images.

We have not been able to replicate the issue on our end for now. However, we are keeping an eye on it.
As a workaround, please continue with the CSS until we inspect the issue and fix it with a NextGEN Gallery update, if it’s an issue from the plugin itself.

Sorry for the trouble,
It looks like there’s an issue with the HTML escaping that results in the automatic backslashes being added in front of the quotation marks (single or double).
A report has been created about this issue to notify our development team about it. I apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Upon further inspection, I couldn’t replicate the issue with the image sorting option on NextGEN Gallery. The options work fine and saves properly,
If the issue still appears, I suggest you deactivate all the third-party plugins except the NextGEN Gallery and check if the issue gets resolved or not! Once the defect plugin is found, reactivate the other plugin and continue setting up the site.

I just checked the plugin by downloading it and adding it to the WordPress site, and it worked fine without throwing any critical error like the one you mentioned above. It appears that the issue has been resolved.
Could you please download the plugin and try re-uploading to the WordPress site and check if it gets installed and activated successfully or not!

Sorry for the trouble with HTML not working on the lightbox,
Our team is actively working on resolving the issue, which will be released soon. Until then, I suggest you use some other lightbox effect as suggested above. Once the plugin has been updated with the fix, you can switch back to the lightbox again.

It looks like there might be a conflict between the NextGEN Gallery and another plugin activated on your end.
If you’d like to test for conflict, please deactivate all plugins except NextGEN Gallery to see if there are any changes to the issue. If so, you can reactivate them one by one while observing for any change to the plugin to identify the conflicting plugin.
After you find the defective plugin, deactivate the plugin and activate the NextGEN Gallery, which should resolve the issue on your end.
