Thank you for reaching out,
Based on the information you provided, entries like ngg_db_version, ngg_options, ngg_run_freemius, widget_ngg-images, widget_ngg-mrssw, and photocrati_auto_update_admin_check_date. Photocrati_auto_update_admin_update_list are all related to the NextGEN Gallery plugin.
If you’re no longer using the plugin, these can be safely removed. The pope_module_list entry is also connected to older versions of NextGEN, and was part of the plugin’s internal module system.
Regarding the widget_slideshow entry, it isn’t part of the NextGEN plugin. It may have been added by another plugin or theme.
Since we are not sure, please create a full backup of your site before deleting it, just to be on the safe side.

It sounds like your theme is also adding a lightbox effect, which is why the images open in two lightboxes at once. This happens when both the gallery plugin and the theme try to apply their own lightbox.

Could you please remove the current NextGEN Gallery plugin activated on your setup and reinstall the plugin again? Reinstalling the plugin should fix the issue with the image scanning process.
Remember that reinstalling the plugin will not make any effect on your existing galleries.
