Adam, everyone, I just reread my convoluted diatribe above. Let me put it another way.

Let’s forget that we are familiar with WordPress. I am addressing those people who do not know WordPress but probably can write emails. What should I do to make it easy to write a post that automatically notifies the moderator so this post gets published within a reasonable timeframe? And, we don’t want this person to be able to edit anything other than their own post. Right now it is not apparent to me that WordPress as concurrently configured can accomplish this and that only a plugin can do it. Any direction here? Thanks. Yipes, this post does not sound any better. Brain cramp. Sorry.

adam, how does a anyone, who can write but cannot “publish”, get his post to a moderator for approval? example. you come across a site that you wish to initiate your own post. not a comment to an existing post, but an original post. this site wants you to register and your orignal to be approved by a moderator.

maybe i am not understanding you. at present, wordpress does provide for this particular requirement. right?

an author can but an author bypasses the moderator. how does one allow all original posts to easily come across the moderator’s desk? or can we configure wordpress so the author’s post goes to moderator?

btw- admin/editor/author can publish. author can’t edit other author’s posts.

i read the codex and maybe there is a problem when considering the function of my site = let anyone who is registered write a post which would then go to a moderator. i only want admin and an editor free reign on what goes public.

at present the author can write and it immediately goes public – that won’t work as these newly registered “posters” can be total strangers. and the contributor can write but how does the contributor get it to the moderator to make it public – anyway, as is, contributor does not work if their effort can’t get to a moderator.

    i probably need a plugin?

for what it is worth, mine is working fine with one exception with no interuptions for 3-4 weeks. however, when in the write/edit mode i have lost (for some time) the coolplayer button = i have to manually paste/write the code into the post. i am not technical enough to go any deeper on this one, sorry.

    and i don’t know if this has changed since whooami said there was a zip sitting at this address = http://www.coolcode.cn/wp-content/plugins/coolplayer/rpc.php because this is all that i get and it makes no sense to me = phprpc_functions=”YToyOntpOjA7czoxMDoicGxheV9tZWRpYSI7aToxO3M6MjI6ImNvb2xwbGF5ZXJfcnBjX3ZlcnNpb24iO30=”;

This is one of the most popular recurring issues I have seen since I actively joined this forum 12/06.

While you are awaiting a more informative response,

    1) do a WordPress support forum search = Sidebar issue with Internet Explorer
    2) refer to this site = http://cavemonkey50.com/2005/12/the-ultimate-ie-hack-guide

I still have problems with three blogs…

    Good advice, thanks.

Doodlebee makes a good point about picking your poison. I have music on Web sites which are set up not to kill iTunes, etc. but you do wind up with two songs playing. My background music is built with Flash.

I’ve looked for media plugins – not that hard – and have not yet found a plugin that does what you are looking for. I have only come across mp3 plugs to play audio on posts and would also be interested to see if a plugin exists. I haven’t seen a lot of Flash built into blogs but there was a good instruction with code from this forum when I asked about a Flash masthead. So if there is no plugin you can do it with Flash.

At present, there are no “links” on author name with the exception of “admin” on the two sites I am working on.

    1) site one = the author only appears on the main index. no author name when i click on article. I have already asked the theme designer on this site and have not heard from him.

    2) site two = the author names do appear no matter where posts sit and authors are linked but when i click on the name i only get all the posts this author made

how does one get the profile?

Can you elaborate a bit? Is the remaining comment sitting somewhere else on my blog? When I see it looks like comments within this […] are trackbacks(?) coming from another site?

i figured it out. when the widget asks for “login” i gave my password and not my username. username is what they wanted.

When I now select a theme the first place I test is on IE. I have avoided using themes that have IE issues after not being able to solve the problem. Research led me to this site though I have not used the info. It is a fun read!

So this isn’t mentioned again…we are very sensitive to the “S” word here and have not offended many who belong to this or that regarding announcements, etc., thank you very much! πŸ˜‰

I will look into the newsletter thing Doodlebee, etc. Thanks!

When keywords are called out in a post, does it matter if they are highlighted/underlined with regards to SEO-friendly issues. It would seem like it does not matter but today it is an assumption.

Also, having trouble highlighting/underlining to appear in final post on browser. Don’t know what I am doing wrong. Any thoughts on the value of underlining the keywords. Things look nice and clean as is and it seems one would read through the whole post rather than linking hilly nilly every paragraph.
