you misread my comment. in my search for a solution to my issue i was simply alerting you to a ‘conflict’ with an established plugin we use and value. if you had felt that it was beneficial for your plugin to remedy conflicts it’s a win-win. your plugin looks appealing.

regarding the function, you mentioned it in your plugin sales pitch and i happened to be looking for it. thank you for the hint and we’re resolved.

here’s my short url via bitly = http://da-is.us/1qKHhTf

bitly has an official plugin but surprisingly it’s unsupported. the ones i did find aren’t ready for prime time.

    hello,

i activated on 18aug and had a db error. same thing just happened. my message is a plugin is broken said 50 times 50 different ways. the plugin is adrotate, an established plug. when i deactivate the plugin the anticipated fatal call to undefined function error pops up. too bad there’s a conflict.

where can i find the function get_short_link() ? i’m ultimately wanting all wp post to spit out a bit.ly url.

not a bump but more info is warranted. i do use several twitter plugins that offer several options of url shortening and twitter is well covered on repeats, not all but most. the official bit.ly plugin is no longer supported. i can control short urls manually via buffer. wanting a bit.ly output for the fb fan page and pinterest.

    hello,

was there a solution to this question? i also have a custom url set up in bit.ly. i just visited neverenoughnotes twitter feed and see the bit.ly url but not the custom url mentioned.

we are not set up with an auto-backup of our db with the isp. maybe in situations like this it would be a good idea πŸ™‚ we’ve tried many backup plans and currently doing it manually via phpMyAdmin

the isp has the above report but the maintenance of the database is not within our service agreement. it just resides on the server.

the site seems to be behaving normally. i am wondering…
how old are these broken elements. the db is 5-plus yrs old
what repair engine is assessing this issue
would optimizing ( another wp option ) make a difference
how do i revisit the wp page that runs these db tests

my host did more than rebuild the server. he did work specifically on the upload problem. in his words… The journal repair completed successfully, and I was also able to identify and repair an issue with the /tmp folder (which was a loop-back mount).

3.7.1 is still humming after host rebuilt server thru the night. no one is sure what went wrong but it took two rebuilds so it seems my particular issue was the server. what was learned is the missing temp file error is pretty common and 90% of the time something is broken before it trickles to wordpress. knowing what to look for and what to tell host is helpful. you can tell the host it’s usually a php upload issue. there are good suggestions in the links above. my host read them and was prepared to pursue suggestions mentioned in above links. i also sent links to a person i was prepared to hire if they understood the issue and felt they knew how to try several options.

no one said my site is/was hacked. pryla_174 had very similar symptoms under similar circumstances. and 3.7.1 is still humming after host rebuilt server thru the night. no one is sure what went wrong but it took two rebuilds so it seems to have been the server. and i reread my earlier remark and do not think rudeness was there. only thing confirmed is when site is badly broken for two or more days you can’t dismiss anything and are looking for and offering opinions. i hope pryla_174 is up and running smoothly soon.

moderators, several. ‘please’ feel our pain. we’ve been hacked before but this is just as bad, a site that’s very broken.

i have several threads open right trying to solve problems. i upgraded to 3.7.1 29oct and it was seamless. however, saturday, after a host maintenance session, problems started. checking to see if host is at issue as we speak. that said, i did lose data, specifically tags and categories. my host i’ve used for seven years. my theme is that old but has survived the cut so far. i have 30 plugins and i did lose ‘co author plus’ this go-around as she can’t find any authors other than admin. also ‘sabre’ broken. still looking for more glitches.

note: i just tried default theme and deactivated plugs and can’t upload images ‘temp folder missing’ which started all of this. and categories and tags, amongst others missing. no problems two+ years until 3.7.1 wondering if 3.7.1 is configured to mess up some hosts, not intentionally. not sure what to ask or do next.

hmm, i have the same issue (not tags but keeping hashtags when pinning something) on pinterest. i didn’t ask pinterest support. did you ask twitter support?

this is not a bump but an update. disregard the can’t save tags mentioned earlier. data has been lost, tags, categories, and more not in database.

research produces four links that say the same thing differently and that is as esmi says, i think, this is not a wp issue. i’ve given the following links to my host and hired someone from the link provided above. promise to share solution when done.

here’s what my host said (they have hosted my wp sites since 2007)

    >The PHP.ini files is available here: /usr/local/lib/php.ini but not sure what to code.
    >Adding the .tmp into WordPress was different than I expected. The wordpress files are available in /home/usr/www, but I am afraid we are not sure where to create that .tmp file as we are not trained with WordPress.

here’s what i found and i sent to them. does this sound like a good suggestion?

note: i have found a tmp folder at same level as public_html so thinking a missing folder, literally, is not the issue.

[Moderator Note: No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

hello esmi, working on it now. i didn’t mention the site was down yesterday for server maintenance and the reason down was it was reset into read-only mode. they said they fixed and rebooted and then said … We would recommend you review your files to ensure that there was no file corruption due to storage interruption.

i looked over wp forum and it mentions create a tmp folder in root and fix php.ini. i just gave that info to host. i have complete access to my server if needed.
