my .htaccess = domain.org/.htaccess
shouldn’t .htaccess sit in same folder as php.index?

i have read htaccess info/issues. i may not have this set up correctly though i thought site/permalinks was working for four months.
my wordpress address = domain.org/blog
my index.php = domain.org/blog/php.index

note: .htaccess was 644 but just changed to 666
note: .htaccess has no code in itreminder, the only bottom line change was upgrade apache and webhost manager though i went from php4 to 5 back to 4.
2) regarding pop-up php menu. this now only occurs in firefox on a mac platform. my isp says to check mime settings on firefox. not sure what they mean so i will ask.

In reply to: Upgrade to php 5.0.4 – uh oh!my isp has restarted apache. i can access one site now but one site on firefox (i am on a mac) i still get the pop-up php menu described above. and with both sites on all browsers when updating permalinks i get the blurb to update htaccess.com = i will do due diligence after breakfast to see what htaccess.com means. i will also do the same with the link you provided above. thank you.

what you heard yesterday was a rollerblade crash, a database problem from a programer, and php5 affecting two sites, then i had to leave for other commitments!
today i was able to go back to php4.4.7 though i needed to upgrade my webhost manager.
but all is not right!
i went to upgrade my permalinks in both sites and it says “update htaccess.com”
and when i try to go into the blog page = index.php i get a pop-up window that says “you have chosen to open… because it is a php. this happens in safari, explorer and firefox. i am on a mac.
so, any thoughts as this seems like a routine thing i have not encountered yet?
this is probably not enough info and i can add upon request.

In reply to: Upgrade to php 5.0.4 – uh oh!i did go back (i think) and guess what. still a problemo. i am talking with my isp to be sure i am in fact back to php4 with no residue.
this is why i am not an early adopter when it comes to software. that’s why i am reluctant to upgrade from wp2.1.1 if it ain’t broke…
i just googled php4 vs 5 for insight and i know i won’t understand this stuff! =

another update!
I found a way to test this on my host, so we’re good to go. Anyone wanting to use this will need to have PHP 5 available though, its just the simplest way.
Progress can be followed by keeping an eye on this page:

and keep in mind that you may occasionally see errors since I may be screwing with something, and/or just decided to leave it broke

In reply to: PLUGIN: last.fm favorite artists cloudwhooami, yesterday somehow i found myself on your site and i looked around and then i registered. very neat site that i barely touched yet because…i found your fm.cloud plug and thought maybe this would be good for my high school class blog and want to try it out. i am in the process of configuring the plug but can’t do much at moment because…i had to upgrade from php 4.3.7 to php 5.0.4 and my site is misbehaving. i have not yet talked to my server support but wonder is there something else i need to do, or what happened because of upgrade. i am using 2.1.1 and a bit worried about upgrading at moment. note: i raised this question about an hour ago via another thread and i will kill one of the threads as soon as i can get feedback.

In reply to: Registration – waiting for passwordwhooami, i fixed a few things. does this work now? if it does not i am thinking there are errors to my code. the code looks good on the wordpress admin panel but some of it looks bad in the source. anyway. see if it is fixed.
yes, and what is with the registration disabled label? i get it too when i try and register. i am only able to register via my admin privileges.

In reply to: Firefox and Flickrwe can mark this thread resolved. during the month i have learned a bit more about the validator and how picky firefox is (not complaining as i really like this browser) and that the code has to be correct for best results. i have a lot of errors in my code which could have been caused by rich text editor, whatever. i learned that even though it looks good in my wordpress editor, if the source looks bad then it is bad = problems somewhere down the road. i’ll re-raise this question again if i need to.
