  • I’m testing 1.2 before I upgrade my regular blog and I’m noticing that the comment option has changed from open/close to allow/not allow. In the options I have the degault set to allow (noticing that it says I can override the setting per post), but if I go edit a post or create a new one and uncheck the allow comments option it doesn’t override the global setting.

I too agree that an export would be a good backup tool in addition to the sql backup. Sandman…if you can manage enough of the WP templates then you can create one that will put the WP entries into the import format for MT. The MT website has docs on the import format. Then from your browser, save the page, or in IE, view the source and save it out to your hard drive.

Ok nevermind. I didn’t realize that that file is in the wp-admin directory. Doh!

I would think it would have to be a combination of javascript to get them to expand and css to include the +/- image before each item in the list (or use the image as a bullet).

Thanks. I didn’t see that there had been an update. Sorry. Works great except the file backup backs up my entire directory which is a ton of files ( I plan to clean up as soon as I can remove my mt installation.). It takes it a little while which is fine, but the page gets enormously long.

This will work as long as you don’t delete a post. If you delete the post, you may have a whole, where a post floated right, but there wasn’t one to float left beside it. You could make every post float left within the container div. Then when it gets to the end, it will wrap. I know there have been some articles explaining how to do this. Here’s one that might help: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/practicalcss/

I found the code I was looking for and just copied what I had from my MT template to get it working. I tweaked it for WP and it is all good and the code validates.

I agree with some of what has been said. I am glad the “admins” are spending more time on the actual product itself. I look forward to the many useful changes they make to WP. But having a good support system is key to maintaining a successful product, whether it be free or not. These forums are good, but could be better for the hapless soul in search of assistance.
A few features that would make the forums just a little better are email notifications and thread subscriptions. It would make it easier for us all to keep track of the main issues we are concerned with. I am one who browses all the posts, but if I get busy and miss a day, then I end up with a mound of posts to weed through to find where mine was to see if someone has replied.
We don’t need a ton of features, but the few I mentioned would certainly be extremely helpful to the WP community. Having a good support system, will in time bring more WP users, because they know they have a sound place to come in search of help. Newbies and the less computer savy folk will get discouraged if they feel they can’t find the help they need when they come to the forums.
But other than that, I am happy to be a WP convert and I will keep visiting the forums. Every time I come in to browse I find something else that is useful to me. I just wish it was easier to keep track of my posts.

Oh, thanks for the custom import. That is what I needed before. I will use it for my next conversion. On my previous switch I went into the db and changed the author of all the entries to admin. So can I now just go in and delete the extra user in the database that was created when I imported?

My entries that are Textile formatted are not being converted. I don’t think it has been implemented yet.

Yep. It worked while I was playing it, but then later it got messed up. I’ve fixed it and all should work now.

I am unable to post at all via Zempt or wbloggar with version 1.0.2. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

I installed 1.02 this past week and I am unable to post via Zempt or wbloggar. I am getting an error. It tells me only one top level element is available in a document. I’d like to be able to post with either of these clients. Please help me figure out why I am not able to.

    Looks very good.

It is cool. And I’ve implemented it, but I’m wondering how long I will have to keep those files on my server. I guess after a month or two it will be ok to delete them. I guess I now have an excuse to customize my 404 pages.
