In reply to: Plugin: Image Browser (formerly called Insert ImagI’m having the same problem as rayn. Hah! We even have almost the same name. I cannot find the insert image link anywhere on my post page. I’ve copied the files to the right places and I’ve activated the plugin, but it isn’t showing up. I search the whole page using the search in page on my browser for the words “Insert” and it was not found. I’m trying to install to 2 different WP installations and it isn’t showing up in either. I’m using version 1.2 epsilon RC2.

In reply to: Importing MT entries change image paths? It sounds like a logical solution. Once everything is in the export file, so a search and replace. Then move all the images to the new directory. It’s what I would do.

In reply to: Feature Request: Moderated Comments NotificationVersion 1.0.2 included a note about moderation. The new templates for 1.2 do not include this note, so I just added it to my template.

In reply to: General Questions about blogging…One way to get traffic to your site is to visit other blogs and comment. Including your new url with your comment will peak others’ curiosity to visit and see what your site is all about. Join a webring. Set up your own blogroll, with your favorite blogs. Technorati shows who’s linking to who. So if your linking to others, you’ll show up on the search for their site. People are curious by nature. They’ll visit to see who it is that is linking to them.

In reply to: Upgraded to the latest nightly and boomI had the same problem with comments when I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.2. You will need to copy the php code from the new comment template to your existing comment template. All the code at the top of the comment template (before the line that says start editing here). For some reason that all changed.
As soon as I copied this code to my existing template, all my comment functionality was back. This is something that should be mentioned to anyone who wished to upgrade. Or maybe this could be a separate file that is included in the comment template. Making it easier to keep existing templates when doing major upgrades.Forum: Your WordPress

In reply to: Trying to make pluginunteins: I’m talking about the hack to display a more link that uses javascript to display or hide the additional content. The original hack is here: http://ten-sixteen.net/tutorials/readmoretut.txt
I’d really like this as a plugin, so that I don’t have to modify the existing function every time I upgrade. That is becoming a pain and half the time, I somehow end up replacing it back to the default.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: fields for stuffAre these custom fields on a post by post basis? Suggesting that if I wanted to include a custom field on all posts, I’d have to manually add it every time I make a new post? Or is it global and just happens to be on the post page instead of an options page?

In reply to: 2 birds 1 stone | comments / v1.2Some of the comment code has changed, so if you are looking for an easy transition, it might be best to wait. When I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.2, my comment code no longer worked because the template had changed.

In reply to: Unrest among MTers expect a little flood towards WI think there will be more people looking to switch from MT. But my point of view is slightly different. Yes, many will be switching for the simple reason of getting something free, but there will be a lot of long-time MT users that are going to switch because they feel they’ve been burned. I for one feel that way and I switched just after MT 3.0 went into alpha.
For many MT users who have been faithfully using the software, the decision to limit features and usability that we’ve all grown used to is a slap in the face. Personally, I feel that 6A has decided the average blogger isn’t as important as those that are commercial or personal business. They will bring in the money, so let’s focus on pleasing them, but just for the hell of it, let’s throw a bone to the “others” and give them a free version with half of what all previous versions of MT offered.
I think people are going to be offended and hurt by the neglect 6A has shown. Many people using MT simply cannot afford to purchase it, yet they’ve help and supported MT in other ways — bringing more users, lending assistance in the forums, developing plugins. These people are the ones that will be switching to WordPress and other blogging software for reasons other than money. I don’t think it is entirely about the actual cost of MT. It’s the fact that they chose to please those that can afford it and cripple those who can’t.
They could still have made money on MT, by extending the features in developer, but keeping existing features in the free. Plus they have Typepad (including Spain and France now) to bring them in money. That business ain’t cheap either.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: comments disappearedThanks. I didn’t think about comparing the two. I copied the “working code” from the new template to the old template and it fixed all the problems.

In reply to: To show all posts in a catagary ?You could create a new template similar to index but that only shows the title and permalink. Then when you use the category list function, tell it which template you want to use (the new template you created).

In reply to: Extended entry on main pageIs there anyway to get this into my-hacks.php, so I don’t have to keep redoing it every time I want to upgrade wp?
