In reply to: Problem updating to 3.1.4I had a problem updating to 3.1.4, never had a problem before, but now many functions are hanging and timing out, like updating posts for example.
I did a manual re-install but still the same problem, even going back to the TwentyTwenty theme.
I hope you get your problem fixed. I have 3 updated sites down, the other 2 on 3.1.3 or earlier are ok though.

In reply to: 3.1.3 upgrade issuesI had no problems with 3.1.3, but on updating to 3.1.4 all 3 of my blogs with the Quickpress Theme (v1.4) are playing up, and I cannot get into most admin functions, the screen hangs until it times out.
Trying to go back to TwentyTwenty and re-adding plugins, but it’s a real pain, and my blogs have been running for several years, so I can’t just start from scratch.

In reply to: WordPress not updatingI have a lot of problems in 3 sites since updating.
My 1 site I did not update is running ok.
I may have the answer for this…
I just found an updated Sitemap in my top folder for my hosting account, not in the correct folder for the domain.
My hosting structure is as follows:
main account
–> .htaccess is here
htdocs
–> automatic sitemaps.xml found here
domain1
htdocs
–> manually created sitemaps.xml found here
domain2
htdocsThe manually created sitemaps.xml is created where it is supposed to be, and where Google expects it to be.
This may indeed be the problem, and related to a problem I have experienced with several other plugins as well.
A .htaccess file at the top level redirects to the correct domain.
If I look at the settings for the Sitemap plugin, it shows that the Sitemap has been rebuilt daily, however if I look at the actual sitemap.xml file, it’s date and content are the same as when I last manually rebuilt it.
Looks like the daily rebuild and the update when a new post is published are not working, even though the plugin thinks that they are.
My automatic build says that it worked, but the sitemaps are showing the old date, which can be several months old, despite the sitemap being rebuilt daily.
If I rebuild manually that does work ok.

In reply to: Cannot Download Zip/Tar FilesI found the problem – my computer was infected. Virus showed up several hours later. No idea how it got hijacked. Assume there is no problem with the download. Looking forward to the latest release when I can get to it.

In reply to: Cannot Download Zip/Tar FilesThanks for the help.
Yes I had already tried that, and despite doing that in Chrome and Firefox I only get 800k downloaded, then the download stops, for both the zip and tar.gz versions of the file.
I never had a problem before. Wish now I had not deleted the files from 3.0.4 on my hard drive before I tried to download the latest version.
I don’t think it’s the firewall here stopping the download, will try it from another location tonight.
I have the latest version of AddToAny and for some reason right next to the button is this: //–>
I am seeing this on my sites too, and for some reason it is causing a 2nd post to show where the sidebar should be, with the sidebar way down the page, basically corrupting the display.
I disabled plugins 1 by 1 and it appears to be Add To Any that is the issue.
I am using the same theme on 3 sites, and have been usign Add To Any for over a year. It doesn’t matter if I am on WP 3.0 or 3.0.1
I have disabled Add To Any for now until the problem can be fixed, but can re-activate if necessary to help identifying the problem.

In reply to: RSSWidget in bodyLexi (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/lexi/) works perfectly. The documentation is a little confusing, but having installed the Lexi plugin, configured it to add a feed to it’s list, all you need to do is to add [lexi:1] to the body of a page. Note: “1” is the first feed you defined in it’s list, “2” the second etc.
This works on WordPress 2.8.6.

In reply to: wp-cron and scheduling with loop back prohibitedI am using WordPress Database Backup for several blogs with the same theme and this worked well until I upgraded to 2.8.1.
Now one blog refuses to schedule a backup, or at least I don’t get anything emailed to me. The other blog backup works fine though.
My email is ok since I receive emails of new posts as well as comments, but I can’t get an automatic backup.
The backup works when done manually and emails it to me, so I assume the problem is with the scheduler somehow.
I tried deleting and re-installing the plugin, but it made no difference.
I don’t know if this information helps you, but I sure would like to get this problem resolved. It sounds as if it could be a similar cause.

In reply to: my screen is white – no blogI had the same problem with my site today having changed something in the plugin Headspace2 – the screen came up blank.
I luckily had a link to the Plugin maintenance screen on Firefox, and that loaded ok so I could take out the plugin, now it works ok.
Try this… hope it works for you…
