In reply to: Removing Multiple Sizes Of Images (More Than The Standard 3)Just an update to say that I have found the culprit, which was the media-library-assistant plugin, which defines additional image sizes.
I haven’t fully resolved the problem but at least now when I upload a new image I don’t get as many copies. For now as I am not uploading many images, I am manually cleaning up after I add an image by deleting the extra files in cPanel fileManager.
I still have to clean up the existing images, but working on it.

In reply to: Removing Multiple Sizes Of Images (More Than The Standard 3)Looks like my situation is more complicated than I thought as I added a new image and got 26 files created!
original image
150×150
270×250 (customizr theme)
271×300
510×510
517×235
528×297
570×350
570×632
570×739
667×444
667×500 (customizr theme)
667×624then all of the above with @2.jpg appended to file name!
I guess the first step is to fix the creation of the unwanted sizes so I only end up with 4 files, and maybe a couple for the theme. If I can do that then it’s not going to be an ongoing problem.
Deleting be using your previous suggestions ought to be relatively straightforward then I hope.

In reply to: Removing Multiple Sizes Of Images (More Than The Standard 3)That’s really handy, thanks Faisal.
I do have access to the command line in my shared hosting CP and I did work with Linux a bit at work, it’s just a bit rusty since I retired 2 years ago. Enough for me to be able to figure things out though and obviously to check I don’t make a horrific mistake!
I’m not too worried about the main thumbnail sizes remaining, it’s the extra copies and also the .webp ones, which I ought to be able to generate in a CDN rather than on the host server.
Appreciate the help.

In reply to: Removing Multiple Sizes Of Images (More Than The Standard 3)Thank you. I looked at the plugin and it only applies to new uploaded images, it doesn’t affect existing ones.
So it won’t help my problem with the 2,500 existing images, but with CDN’s handling image optimisation, any new images ought to only need the original image in the WordPress uploads folder (I think).

In reply to: Removing Multiple Sizes Of Images (More Than The Standard 3)Thanks very much for the tips, very helpful.
Because of the massive size of the uploads folder, it’s hard to do a backup (over 7gb) and using a CDN would just take forever to populate and the redundant images would still be there.
I use Cloudflare and am looking to pay for their image optimisation, so wouldn’t need all the redundant copies in the uploads folder in any case.
I am going to do a test by downloading one of the year/month folders to my laptop, back it up, then remove the redundant copies for several images that I know are being used in posts to see if I get any errors. If I do, it will be easy to copy the files back into the folder.
Hopefully that will work, as if I can delete the “.jpg.webp” and “@2.jpg” copies created by some optimisation processes it ought to greatly reduce the size of the folders.

In reply to: [Media Cleaner: Clean your WordPress!] Deleting Unused Image SizesI just uploaded a new image and there are 30 files in the media library for it, 15 JPG and 15 WEBP which I understand, but why 15 of each? I’d love to be able to fix this as I have about 2,500 images duplicated to the same level which is slowing my site down.
I’m struggling to insert an image of the file list here. The url is https://www.thelaughline.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Screenshot-2024-09-01-164539.jpg

Thanks Bethany.
I saw there was an update yesterday and updated my sites. Going through the Ads settings on Adsense, it now displays In-Post Ads for some pages which it didn’t before.
Appreciate getting this code change in there.I use Google Site Kit with WP-Optimize and also have the errors in the Site Kit status display.
I’m not using the WP-Optimize caching though, my whole site is cached through Cloudflare and it recommended not to use any other caching at the same time.
I was wondering if my problem was Cloudflare, but maybe it is something else.
Might be a clue hopefully.I also use Blackhole For Bad Bots on my sites and haven’t had any problems.
Thanks very much Abdullah.

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] PHP fatal error with 2.90 and WP 5.5.3Pleased to find it’s not just me having this problem. I can report the same PHP errors logged as CPRIVITE.
Good to know you have it fixed, as it’s only the backend it affects I’m happy to wait for the fix to get released.
Thanks for a great plugin.
