Thanks w.bear, it worked. You are awesome! To optimize the code, I am looking to see if there is a way to link directly to the “Legacy” folder, where the original plugin files, are buried in NextGen Gallery 2.0.
Yes, this is what I was calling “Nextgen Search Engine” and I rely heavily on this feature as well.
I agree that I would love to see this truly integrated into Nextgen Gallery, but I attempted to broach this idea in a comment on a blog post from the Nextgen Gallery website. It was moderated out of existence so, I am guessing that this will remain a plugin type feature. 🙂 I have attempted email contact with Alex about help (paid) this past spring about the plugins functionality, not related to the 2.0 update. The email was unanswered, so I can only assume that Alex has abandoned this plugin feature because he is no longer associated with Nextgen Gallery.
I believe that it will be upon the users of this plugin feature to update it to work with Nextgen Gallery 2.0 and above as an open source fork of Alex’s work.
I will be looking at retrofitting this plugin feature because it is a must have for my website. I am brand new with PHP programming so it will not be a quick turnaround, if at all, as there is a large learning curve to overcome. I may need to enlist paid resources to assist me with this, if I can’t do it on my own.
I am open to any advice or assistance from the Nextgen community at large to help with moving this project along.
Thanks
ScottWhat plugin are you looking to for?
Nextgen Gallery Search or Nextgen Search Engine?
If it is Nextgen Gallery Search, I have cobbled together a working version.
I am going to attempt to get Nextgen Search Engine working, but I am very new at PHP coding.
Does anyone have any ideas on this or where I may be able to hire someone to assist? 2.0 issues are overwhelming this request. 🙂
Thanks

In reply to: [EWWW Image Optimizer] Compatibility with NextGen Gallery 2.0Thanks for the reply. I do not trust that the “Http Error” is truly accurate information being reported back from Nextgen Gallery 2.0.
I am not planning to upgrade to Nextgen Gallery 2.0 for some time. It appears they have quite a few bugs to work through judging by the activity in the support queue. I also found that none of the plugins that I use in reference to Nextgen Gallery currently work. I am attempting to retrofit a couple of abandoned plugins that I like the features of, and no other plugin have. 🙂
Thanks for continuing the effort with integration with to Nextgen Gallery 2.0, as they totally gutted and recreated the plugin structure from the ground up.
Thanks

In reply to: Custom Search Function for plugin updateThanks again for your help. Now that I know this form is driven by PHP and not a WordPress function, I will begin to see what I can learn about PHP.
Those typos were the source of the issues and resolved the problem I was experiencing.

In reply to: Custom Search Function for plugin updateThank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
“<?=” was the problem. Strangely enough, my working source code uses “<?=”. I incorrectly assumed that this was coding that I didn’t understand.
You are correct, I condensed the code above to only the pertinent form information where I thought the issue was.
Is there a good source of information explaining forms and how it is being used in this plugin? I could only find what was in the Codex, but that seemed to pertain to only searching for blog posts.
Thanks again for your help!

In reply to: [EWWW Image Optimizer] Watermark function not workingI am just checking up on this ticket. Have you been able to duplicate the issue? Do you need me to add to or help in any way?
Let me know,
ScottI am currently using Nextgen Gallery for my site that has 49225 Images and 1118 Galleries per the plugin summary. They are not High-Res, but I think that this qualifies as large by any standards. 🙂 I have not had any problems with the plugin and love all the features. I did have to move my site to a VPS to handle the horsepower that the plugin requires.
I use a plugin to display my photos called FooBox. It is a plugin that Nextgen Gallery owners did a write up about on their blog. I think that it add a very good look to the photos, as well as social integration.
Hope this helps, Cheers
