Hi @allangarland,
Thanks for reporting. And sorry about that! We have released a new update with a fix to that issue. In order to update, please do as follows:
- Deactivate the Molongui Authorship plugin (version 4.6.14) if you don’t have it already disabled
- Dashboard > Updates > Check again
- When the 4.6.15 update is shown, update the plugin
- Flush any cache you may have
- That should be it
Hi guys,
Thanks for reporting! Working on this already. Will release an update with the fix in a while.
Hi @orenctc,
We’re very sorry that you are so unhappy with us.
I bought the plugin, decided not to use it at the end. didn’t cancle the subscription and forgot about it (…) after a year I was charged without any notice email or so
@orenctcAs you very well state, it was you the one who didn’t cancel the subscription. Even we did email you (yes, we did) a week before the charge was made to let you know the subscription renewal was approaching.
So please, don’t say we don’t send renewal reminders. That’s not true. We do send a renewal email. And it even lets you know how to proceed if you don’t want to renew.
when I asked for a refund (only for the renewal) a few days after, they barely answered with a “no” and didn’t even try to understand I’m not and didn’t use their plugin
@orenctcAs per our refund policy, the one you agreed upon purchasing, renewal payments are not refundable. And that’s common industry practice. And the only reason is to maintain the best possible pricing and availability for our users.
And don’t say we steal anything from anyone. Shame on you for that. We provide a service and get paid for it. We can understand you might be angry. But don’t blame us, take responsibility and blame yourself about forgetting to cancel.
Sure that plugin is the one to blame? We have been testing with just that plugin and ours enabled, and everything is working just fine. The author box is being displayed (and no image is being lazy loaded).
Anyway, if you can just get the author box displayed having that plugin disabled, you may want to try this other plugin instead. I’d say it does the same as the one you linked.
I’m closing this ticket now. But should you need further assistance, feel free to re-open it or submit a new one.
I’m afraid the report is not being sent or something is blocking it, as we didn’t get it.
Anyway, let’s keep checking:
- I guess the author box is not displayed on any post, right? If it were just that one you linked, you might have changed the post setting that allows you to configure on a per post-basis whether to display the author box. Please confirm.
- Could you try to temporary disable the Astra Pro plugin to check if with it disabled the author box gets displayed?
- Could you try to temporary disable all the plugins but ours, Astra Pro and Elementor to check if then the author box is displayed?
Please let us know.
Well, as I can see you haven’t actually disabled all your plugins. There you have Akismet, Elementor and Fox Framework enabled. I can say the first two are OK, but the third I don’t know. Just to check it right, could you please disable those three plugins to? It is working on our testing server and in the demos site, so it must be something with your installation.
If you plan to use that other theme, why not test it out with it directly? Maybe you already tried and it is not working? I mean, I guess it makes more sense to test it with the Fox theme. If it works, then why to worry (if it doesn’t, then switching to a default WP theme to check is the right thing to do).
And regarding overwriting that function from your theme — 1) if you use a child theme, you don’t have to worry about loosing any changes you add upon parent updates and 2) I’d first check which bylines I get with Fox enabled (I guess you already tried and it didn’t work… else I wouldn’t understand why this ticket, really)
Please let me know.
Yes, we set up an installation following your details: latest WP, 2023 theme and the latest Molongui Authorship plugin (free version). And bylines are working just fine for us, they show the author(s) configured for a given post.
Now you have the 2023 theme available on the demos site, so you should be able to try it out there.
So it is not working for you either with the Fox theme? Did you try deactivating all the plugin but ours and check if the issue persisted? It might be some other plugin conflicting.
Please let us know.
Hi @mchlsync,
We have tried to reproduce the issue you describe on our testing server and it is working just fine for both, registered WP users and guest authors.
Could you please try to deactivate all other plugins but ours and check if the issue persists? Also, please flush any cache you may have.
And do you have any custom code?
Please let us know.
Hi @tonyzeoli,
No, no version of Molongui Authorship provides any widget for Elementor at this time. But as you very well point out, shortcodes are available instead. However, yes, they are only available with Molongui Authorship Pro (that’s why you get the shortcode’s plain text when using it with the free version).
Yes, you can get a byline like the one you describe using two of the provided shortcodes:
Both accept several attributes/variables you can use to customize the output you get.
If you go Pro, you can open a ticket with us and we will help you to configure them to get the byline you describe.
We never got the report. But don’t worry. Let’s make some checks:
- Go to: Authors > Settings > Author Box and make sure that feature is enabled (the toggle on the first panel). If it is not, toggle it ON.
- On that same screen, make sure Posts is selected on the “Automatically show the author box on all” setting you will find in the Display panel. If it is not, add it.
- Do those authors have any bio description? If they don’t, make sure the “Hide the author box if bio description is empty” setting is disabled.
Please check this and let us know.
Could you please go to: Authors > Help! screen and scroll down the page until the bottom. There you will see a panel named “System Status Report“. Please click on the button labeled “Send Report“. We will get an email with some info about your installation that might help us troubleshoot the issue you are reporting.
The plugin does work fine with Astra. At least it did last time we checked. Anyway, the plugin doesn’t add any shortcodes anywhere at all. In fact, shortcodes are only available with the Molongui Authorship Pro plugin. Maybe this is why you wrongly say it doesn’t work with Astra??
Anyway, it seems you (or anyone who had access to your site) added our shortcode into a hook provided by Astra (astra-advanced-hook-1890). You should check that configuration and remove it from there.
Hope this helps.
Hi @inzi17,
We have replied the support ticket you opened with us regarding this same issue. Let’s handle it there. Once fixed, we will release a new update.
Anyway, and in case you didn’t get our email, could you please let us know where and when do you get that error? Does the error message provide any further detail on which file and line is causing it?
Hi @amybabyreview,
That “custom URL” might be different for each author, so you need to go edit your author and fill in the “Website” field.
Marking this as resolved. But please feel free to answer/re-open this ticket if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.
Thanks @seoergoweb! We have been able to fix the issue. We will release a new update (4.6.13) with the fix.
It should fix your issue too, @erabbit. But feel free to reopen this ticket if it does not.
Remember to flush cache after updating the plugin (once available).
Thanks for reporting this issue and helping us fixing it!
