Hi @ignitemedical,

Hi @lindsaysmith,
As we haven’t heard back from you in a while, we are closing this ticket now. Anyway, please feel free to re-open it anytime if you are still experiencing the reported issue and want us to look into it.
Hi @ignitemedical,
Thanks for reporting this issue and for such an illustrative recording. From what I can see, author names are wrong when the author list is displayed on an author page.
We will try to set up a testing environment with that other plugin to try to reproduce the issue and find a fix.
We will get back to you.
Hi @webworknow,
Ignorance makes people say dumb things. Being rude has no excuse. However, here is a polite answer you surely don’t deserve.
Those two settings you point out can be found on the plugin settings page. Anyone can find them. They are place there to be found so the user can configure them as they please. So why do you use the term “Sneakily”? Do you even know the meaning of that word? They are meant to do exactly what it is described they do. If you have them enabled, configuration and plugin data are kept. NOT plugin code. Obviously, you didn’t get that point.
And yes, not many plugins provide such options. Most just keep garbage in your database without you even knowing. So who’s doing it wrong? There are many reasons for people to want to keep that data, thus those settings. If you don’t find any use of keeping such data in your database, just disable those options. How do you dare to even complain?
Now, if you still get the author box (are you sure it is OUR author box? Many themes include theirs) in your posts/frontend, then the only reason I can think of is your cache. Just make sure all the caches you might have (not just the one provided by a plugin, but also from your hosting provider, server, CDN…), have been flushed.
And just to make it clear to anyone else who might read and is lacking this knowledge: When you uninstall our plugin, all plugin code files are removed from your server’s filesystem. Plugin data, such configuration and author data, is kept only if you have those two settings enabled. Disable them and any bit added by our plugin will be removed upon uninstall.
Hi @lindsaysmith,
The first reported issue seems to be also a theme/plugin conflict. Have you installed any new code before the issue started to happen? Best approach is to check for a plugin conflict. Please switch to a default WP theme (like Twenty Twenty) and check if the issue persists. If it does, deactivate all the plugins but ours and check again. If the issue is gone, please reactivate one plugin at a time and check if the issue is back. Once it does, we will know it is latest activated plugin the one causing conflict.
If you cannot switch themes and/or deactivate plugins, you can use the “Health Check and Troubleshooting” plugin, which allows you to check without affecting other users/visitors to your site.
Please let me know what your findings are so we can have a starting point to look into this.
Hi @sayantansdas,
Do you have WP_Cron disabled? Do you disabled it yourself? If that is your case, please enable it back. Then disable the plugin and enable it back. Two background jobs to update post counters should run (a notice is displayed). Once they are finished, post counters should display the correct number. If they still don’t, please repeat the process (disable the plugin and enable it again) once the admin notice (saying there is a running task in the background) is gone.
Or maybe your hosting provider has a custom Cron that takes care to run scheduled jobs? In such situation, add the hook below to your functions.php file (or wherever you think more appropriate):
add_filter( 'authorship/check_wp_cron', '__return_false' );Please let me know if this helps.
Hi @lilyrose00,
That’s because an obsolete cache. Your caching plugin doesn’t seem to automatically flush their cache upon other plugins uninstall. Just flush it manually and you will get a fresh and updated version of your posts.
Hi @infernoprime,
The Molongui Authorship plugin uses the default WordPress media library to pick and upload custom avatars for your authors. As WordPress doesn’t provide the ability to add new subfolders within your root media directory, you need to install a third party plugin that allows you to. And, in order to be able to pick a local image located outside main media’s root folder, that plugin should enhance default WordPress media library (so it can display those subfolders too).
However, our plugin allows you to pick any local image, no matter how or where you uploaded, as author avatar. So you could always edit database entries to change image’s path. Obviously, this would be a valid option only for a one-time thing.
Hi @rianmurnen,
Happy to let you know that Mastodon is already available for you. It is not enabled by default, but you can easily enable it. Just go to: Authors > Settings > More. There you will see a panel labeled “Social Networks“. Just click on the input (where already enabled social networks are displayed) and start typing “Mastodon”. The list of available social networks will be filtered and it will be shown. Click on it and Save Settings. You should now have it available for all your authors.
Please let us know if this helps.
And thanks so much for your compliment! Maybe you would like to share it as a plugin review here.
Thank you!
Thank you!
