Hi @mariamhussien,
You already opened a support ticket with us about this, so we’re closing this support thread here. For anyone interested, we will post an update about this once it’s been taken care of.
Thank you for the clarification. Could either of you guys provide admin access to your site (or a staging site better) so we can look into it? We do not have access to Cloud Templates, so there is no way we can check on our testing environment. For that you can open a support ticket with us here.
The author name might be displayed in many different places on author pages. So it is important for us to know exactly where the issue is happening:
@erabbit Are you using a Cloud Template from tagDiv? Maybe the wrong author name is displayed on the author box displayed at the top? Could you please share the URL to an author page displaying the wrong name?
@seoergoweb With “Page title” you mean the text displayed in your browser’s tab or the text in the heading of your author pages? Could you also share the URL to an author page in your site?
Please let us know so we can get a better understanding and look into this.
Hi @erabbit,
What is the feature not working on author pages? Maybe you mean the byline on listed posts is showing the wrong author name?
Are you using a cloud template (from the tagDiv Cloud Library plugin) for your author pages? If you are, please take a look at this support article.
Hi @juliendargaisse,
I’m afraid we’re not familiar with that theme, so we couldn’t tell for sure. From what I can see, a “Listing” is a custom post type, so I can tell you will need Molongui Authorship Pro in order to be able to enable the co-authors feature on them.
If listings behave like regular posts, you should be able to add multiple authors to them and those authors (being them WP users) should be able to edit it (as long as their user role allow edition, obviously).
Hope this helps!
I’m closing this ticket now, but feel free to re-open it if you need further assistance.
Hi @lindsaysmith,
Thanks for getting back and letting us know. That’s good news! It might have been a glitch or something, yes.
I’m closing this ticket now, but feel free to re-open it if the issue occurs again. We’ll be happy to assist.
3) With “system report” do you mean the error log from your web server? If so, yes please!
5) That would work too, yes. But only if the issue comes back. In such case, please send credentials opening a support ticket with us here.
6) Good to know. Maybe it was just an isolated issue. Let’s see what happens now that you have re-enabled the plugin. And I don’t think that cookie plugin might be causing any issue here.
Thanks for all the information. You did answer everything we needed to know!
Hi @one3rdnerd,
Please open a support ticket with us here so you can have email access to us. Also, please let us know whether that author box is displayed by your theme or BB. If it is BB, which module do you use to add it? Or maybe you are using several modules to pull author information and you build up that author box from scratch?
We got your System Status Report, thanks! Could you please also answer these questions:
1) Did you get any 503 error while working on your Dashboard or it was your hosting provider the one who let you know about them?
2) If you got the 503 error, what were you doing before getting it? Editing a post maybe?
3) Are you able to reproduce the issue?
4) Do you have custom code hooking into our plugin?
5) Do you have a staging/testing site we can use to test?
6) I see you have been using the plugin for quite a long time. Is this the first time you experience this errors? What has changed, maybe you installed a new plugin recently? Or any change you have introduced?
Please let us know so we can assist.
Hi @lindsaysmith,
Could you please go to: Authors > Help! screen and scroll down the page until the bottom. There you will see a panel named “System Status Report”. Please click on the button labeled “Send Report”. We will get an email with some info about your installation that will provide us a little more context on this.
And could you tell what type of activity was being carried on your site while getting those 503 errors? I’d say those must have affected your backend/WP dashboard, not your public site. But it would be helpful you to confirm.
Also, are you able to reproduce the issue? That would be really helpful to track down the issue.
Please let us know.
As for the drawback, I wasn’t 100% sure what you mean by if we don’t have multi-authored posts?
1 post = 1 author => Single authored post. No worries here
1 post = N authors => Multi-authored post. Here you should always add (as last author) a reviewer for the article, so using “Fact Checked by ” as last delimiter in your bylines makes sense.Anyway, yes, in your case you’ll be fine. Forget about this drawback
Why is there a space before the full stop/period
It is actually our plugin the one placing that space there. It doesn’t expect the last delimiter to start with a symbol. We could add some logic to prevent that space being added if the string provided as delimiter starts with a “,” or “.”
Why does it impact the author bio box at the end?
We should look into how BB has that author boxed coded to provide an accurate answer. Anyway, it must have to be something with the fact that now your post has two authors (John and Natalie). Remember that regardless you using the co-authors feature this way, you are actually configuring the post to have two authors.
However, I guess we could add a hook you can use to avoid your author box being modified.
Can we set it to output the author avatar in the byline? I added a local author avatar but it doesn’t show for the second author, only the first one where gravatar is used
I’d say it has nothing to do with where the image is retrieved from. I mean, if you upload a local image for your first author, it should be displayed. However, no matter what, avatar for the second author/reviewer won’t be displayed. The Pro version of our plugin provides you a shortcode to retrieve the avatars for all the authors in a post, so you can make it display in front of the byline. Here you have the doc.
I also tried to add a line break with <br> and it works but it breaks the link and makes everything link to the first author
Yes, a
<br>breaks the links in the byline for a multi-authored post. Sorry.Hi @one3rdnerd,
I understand your need, but I’m afraid that feature is not available yet. However, a workaround would be to:
1) Enable the multi-authors feature (Go to:
Authors > Settings > Co-authors)
2) In that same screen, edit the “As delimiter to separate last two author names, use:” option to set: “. Fact Checked by” (without quotes). AndSave Settings.
3) Then go edit the post and pick “John D.” as the main (first) author and “Mike W” as the second author (in the list, I mean)Drawback: You are limiting the multi-authors feature. So your last author will be preceded by the “
. Fact Checked by” string. If you don’t have multi-authored posts, this won’t be an issue at all.And I’m assuming your theme provides the “Written by ” string at the beginning of your bylines. If it doesn’t, no worries, you can upgrade to Molongui Authorship Pro. One of the premium features it provides allows you to customize your byline prepending custom strings.
Hope this helps!

Hi @patrickhealy!
Yes, as far as we know, both plugins work well together. Just a few considerations:
- Post’s bylines are displayed by your theme. So it is your theme that needs to be compatible with Molongui Authorship. Most of them are
- The author box needs to be configured outside Elementor’s Editor, either from our plugin settings page or editing the post using the WP’s edit-post screen
That goes for Elementor. Elementor Pro provides additional widgets and a theme builder tool. In that case, you might need Molongui Authorship Pro too.
I’m closing this ticket now, but if you have further questions regarding Elementor + Molongui Authorship, feel free to re-open it.
As we haven’t got any answer from you, I’m closing this ticket now. Hopefully you got the issue fixed. If you didn’t, feel free to reopen it anytime.
Hi @dantesama,
In order to social icons to be displayed you need to:
1) Provide social profile URLs using the fields under the Molongui Authorship section in the edit-user/profile screen. Other plugins, like Yoast, for instance, add their own social fields, but those are not recognized (yet?) by our plugin.
2) Configure the author box to display social icons. This setting (“Show social icons”) is enabled by default. You can find in on: Authors > Author Box Editor > Content > Social Icons
Please make sure you have provided the social URLs using our plugin fields.
Author name not being displayed on your posts byline might happen when the author has a custom user role and you are not running the Pro plugin. Support for custom user roles is a premium feature not available in the free version of Molongui Authorship.
Please let us know if this helps.
