In reply to: Stats- need more dataHello,
One way would be to use third-party stats like blubrry Statistics.
Or you could use podcast hosting services like libsyn or blubrry which have their own statistics. This is an old post but it explains in a bit more detail
http://schoolofpodcasting.com/amazon-s3-vs-libsyn/But I’m not sure you can see the downloads per category on Libsyn either.
By the way are you at the top positions in any iTunes Podcast category?
I think advertisers would also like to see that.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Premium FeedYou are right I was able to test it in iTunes and it did ask me for a password.
Are you having any issues with logging in?We are talking about such issues here

If you are able to login in to the premium feed could you help us figure it out?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: WP-Members: Itunes responds with login error to every userI had similar issues just protecting podpress media files.
I honestly think Podpress needs a bit of work to take care of all these issues. Maybe also updating the plugin guides.I don’t think it is an iTunes related issue.
If you try subscribing to the protected feed with another rss client like NetNewsWire you should get the same issue.
So I think it is related to the podpress and wordpress integration.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: WP-Members: Itunes responds with login error to every userSeems a similar issue was reported on Powerpress too.
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/powerpress-having-trouble-with-authentication-for-premium-content?replies=2What got my attention is
If you get it down to the basic common denominator, use the default user capability that PowerPress adds and make sure that user has that capability, then it should work. Chances are you are either using a different capability for the premium feed, or the other plugin has it’s own capability (roles and capabilities) that you need to associate both the premium feed and the user to.
As I did not have the Premium Content role activated by Podpress, but had to add it manually as premium_content. I wonder if I spelled it out badly and it is now not working in the feed as the feed code is connected to another capability, maybe spelled premium_contents?
Let us wait for Ntm to give us his suggestions.

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Premium FeedHello,
I asked the same thing some time ago and the answer was no.
Here is the thread
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/premium-podcast-feed-under-category-feed?replies=4I’m going to start reading up on powerpress, it might offer this option.

In reply to: WP-Members: Itunes responds with login error to every userHello,
I’m actually having the same issues but am on WP 3.2.1.
It is my first time to try the premium feed in iTunes but keep getting the username and password rejected even if when used on the website they work fine, enabling podpress premium content to be accessed without a problem.Have you been able to solve your issues?

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] premium content on multisiteAfter a few days of testing I can confirm once restrict_content has been activated and assigned to a particular role, it does protect content if not logged in and makes content available once logged in.
To protect the real link there are other systems. Although it would certainly be perfect if podpress could also hide the links!
Thank you for your help

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] premium content on multisiteHello, I was able to add premium_content using Members. If you are having trouble I suggest using user-role-editor It works the same but seems easier to understand.
I have added the restrict_content capability to administrator and can protect content using the podpress premium option as you can see here
http://meetworld.s3.amazonaws.com/meetitalia/buzz/english/premium_content_12_6.pngNow I can’t tie the protection to a membership software so that a user can log in and the protected content becomes available.
Do you have any membership software recommendations?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] premium content on multisiteI’ve learned a few new things.
Sub sites work when you go into each sub site and add the same “Restrict Content” role to the Users you are using to protect content.
So this is not a bug but the way wordpress works on multisite.I cannot find “premium_content” capability in the “Members” plugin “Roles” page.
I’ve also gone into cPanel and searched for “premium_content” into the tables but have not been able to find it.I’ve now manually added “premium_content” capability in the “Members” plugin “Roles” page of the Administrator. And it appears in the menu.
http://meetworld.s3.amazonaws.com/meetitalia/buzz/english/premium_content_12_6.pngLike you say, “Restrict content” might be coming from the “Members” plugin.
In any case the next step would be to tie the podpress “premium_content” to a membership level. Any suggestions how to do that?

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] premium content on multisiteI’ve installed Members and again only on the main site do I get Restrict Content.
So now to try another membership software and figure out it the issue is with Podpress or Members.
Can you recommend any other membership software to test?
Thank youForum: Plugins
In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] premium content on multisiteI’ve just completed a new instalaltion of WordPress multisite, this time installing WP 3.2.1
I’ve just installed podpress 8.8.10.12 activated Enable Premium Content.
Built a post and added a media file, but I still only get free.
This is in both main and subsite. Can you share the recommended steps to get Enable Premium Content working?

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Statistics for m4v files are not accurateYes you are right, the last device to play the video was a Mac.

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Statistics for m4v files are not accurateDear ntm,
I’m sorry to disappoint you but I am a very lousy programmer and just theorized a solution. If someone is playing/downloading such an episode and he/she wants to play or download the file again then the file would be locked.
In the end it is the same person so it is not so important for statistics in my opinion.
I’ve tested your page on an iPhone, iPad and mac.
I’ve played the video file twice on the iPad.Have a good day

In reply to: [podPress] [Plugin: podPress] Statistics for m4v files are not accurateI’ve tried to dig around a little but haven’t been able to discover much.
Here are some stats, I’ve deleted the last two ip sets for privacy.
One solution would be a simple script that tells the podPress statistics to ignore any further data after the first time an ip address loads a file and insert a timer of 5 or 10 minutes.
So that if the same ip loads the same file after 5 or 10 minutes it is counted again.[Log moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]
