  • You might want to try avatar popup (http://frenchfragfactory.net/ozh/my-projects/wordpress-plugin-avatar-gravatar-popup/)

It’s designed for avatars or any other photo/image associated with a word or text in your blog entry.

You could make 200px x 200px or larger images with a small synopsis or review of the book, associate it with the book title. When hovered over the image would popup.

Just a thought and believe it would work better than acronym replacer mentioned above.

Where do you want the image? If it is to the right of the text you have to “float right”

The call to display the image should be after this (or something close)
    <div class="commenttext">

And what does that mean? What’s “under the folder?”

Are you attempting to say the two subject sites are WP?

It doesn’t matter, WP or not. My point was – and it’s based on the assumption you are new to WP and CSS – is someone with limited knowledge such as yourself would be much better off starting at a lower level of design complexity.

If you desire a complexc design try this one called “APlus” It is one or if not the most complex WP design I have seen and all you would have to do is drop the files into your theme folder.

    http://www.aplus.co.yu/

First of all the two sites you are trying to emulate aren’t based on WordPress.

Secondly if I’m not mistaken both designs are done by professionals, meaning they may fall under a copyright and you would need permission to copy them.

As someone new to WP I suggest you look thru all the themes available and choose one, play with it to learn how WP, and css work.

In the long run you will be alot better off.

Look thru this switcher that allows you to see all the themes available:

They don’t seem to be concerned with posting this information. It’s not like it’s someone’s social security number. And sharing the IP of an unwanted visitor is a good way to let others know to ban him from their own sites as well.

You may be correct I don’t hang around boards. But i bet as part of any registration to many if not most boards there is a disclaimer of some sort.

As for posting the IP on your blog, that IP is known only to the blog owner not the rest his/her readers.

By posting it yes it could lead to others banning the same IP. Not a problem. But what if someone does something more destructive? Can you say Dos attack? Or someone could flood that IP with their version of spam.

All without you, who posted the IP, knowing about it.

But guess what you would be just as liable as the person who committed the actual act itself. There are way too many nutzoids out there to take the chance. Just ban the IP and be done with it.

First of all post rules for your site. If you run 1.5 make a separate page for them and have them easiliy accessable.

Secondly there may be a slight legal problem with posting their pesonnel info. I’m no lawyer but better to be safe than sorry in this day and age.

Third don’t delete the comment. Edit it. Edit out the offensive words/phrases. Then leave your note why “XXX” replaces something in the comment.

Worst case ban the IP address.

Question. Did this person only drop “your gay” once in the thread or was it a continuing conversation in that thread and others?

If it was one remark in one thread it hardly meets the “troll” stage.

Outside the Beltway may be the most popular based on hits per day. It currently has nearly 4 million hits in just over 2 years and just upgraded to 1.5.1.1

Say Anything Blog runs 1.5.1 alpha and is also in the 7 figure range in hits.

    Yep sure does Jinsan, thanks.

Guess I’ll upgrade the two blogs that still sit under 1.5 code first.

Then tackle my 1.5.1 blog last.

Oh… and unclench my crossed fingers!

It would also be nice if advice were given on how to proceed. Is it advisable to do a complete install of 1.5.1.1 Or can we select the changed files and upload them?

I have been running 1.5.1 since approx 5 hours after its initial release with no problems with TB, PB’s (the changed files in 1.5.1) or any other problems.

So with fingers crossed in a death grip I tend to shy away from fixing something that til now isn’t broken.

When I view your profile page in Firefox the text does follow your image. Have you discovered the correct CSS section and changed it?

I have a question for you. Why on earth have you setup your site using frames? Your profile page says your a web designer. Surely you know how outdated frames are.

Sorry I can’t answer your question directly, but I will offer this.

By allowing ” (known and anon) users/visitors to post” is asking every known spammer in this and any possible parallel universe an open invitation. And I dare say your moderation que will keep you busy far in access of any time you spend blogging.

But it’s your blog, have fun.

There is a reason why cookbooks have pictures, they make you hungry.

Definately go with the images. One suggestion, try these drop shodows to add a design element to each photo.
