In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Can’t submit with plugin CSSI’m happy to help @calverdigital. Usually in these situations the issue is caused by a conflict between your theme and our volunteer management plugin. That’s not always the case, but it’s the most likely culprit.
Would it be possible for you to turn the plugin’s CSS back on so we can take a look? Based on what I’m seeing at the link you shared it looks like it’s currently turned off.
Once we can see the issue ourselves hopefully then we can recommend the best next steps.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Consider adding SMS supportWe haven’t considered this feature before, but I really like it. Text message reminders would be a great way to ensure more volunteers show up.
Thanks a ton for making the suggestion @jason559. We’ve documented it in our list of feature requests. We review that list each quarter when we roadmap where to spend our time.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] How are volunteer profiles created?Sorry for the confusion @icsanantonio. There is no place in the system for the volunteers to access their own profiles. The way the plugin is currently built, only website users with the Administrator role can view those profiles.
Once a website visitor signs up for a volunteer opportunity on the site, a profile is automatically created for that volunteer.
If you haven’t tested out installing the plugin, creating a volunteer opportunity and signing up for one, I’d suggest going through that process. I think it will make everything a lot more clear.
I hope that’s helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] How are volunteer profiles created?I’m happy to help @icsanantonio. I’d recommend checking out the FAQs at the bottom of https://wordpress.org/plugins/wired-impact-volunteer-management/. Those should answer a lot of questions about how to get started.
In general though, volunteers are only tracked when they sign up for volunteer opportunities created through the plugin. There isn’t a way for volunteers to manually add volunteer time or modify their profiles directly.
Let me know what other questions you have and good luck getting started!
Thanks for reaching out @cdlstevenz. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to automatically hide the volunteer opportunities with no available slots. You could do this with some PHP coding, but obviously that’s not ideal for most people. Like you mentioned, you’ll either need to trash the closed opportunities or set them to drafts if you no longer want them to appear.
I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you. I’ve marked down your request though so we consider it as we add new features to the plugin in the future.
Great, let us know if there is anything else we can do to help out.
Thanks for the kind review @sampurna4. We really appreciate it!
In regards to your question, our plugin actually doesn’t output the featured image or title for individual volunteer opportunities. That’s most likely handled by your theme. The best approach would likely be to check if there are settings within your theme to adjust that. If there aren’t, you may want to reach out to the theme developer to find out how to adjust the layout for those volunteer opportunities.
I hope that’s helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] opportunities not showingUnfortunately not. It’s set up this way to avoid a situation where volunteers sign up after an opportunity is already underway. In most cases that would be problematic for the person managing the opportunity.
One potential option is to create unique volunteer opportunities for different shifts. That way once a shift has already begun, it won’t impact the others. I’m not sure if that will work in your situation, but I wanted to mention it.
Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] opportunities not showingHi @thomasthorne, I’m happy to help. This issue usually comes up for one of two reasons:
- If the dates for the volunteer opportunities are set in the past, they won’t show up in the list. Once the start time of an opportunity has passed, it’s hidden automatically.
- It’s possible the two opportunities are set up as “flexible” with no fixed date and time, but the Volunteer Opportunities block is set show “One-Time Opportunities”, or vice versa. You may need to switch the Volunteer Opportunities block to show a different type of opportunity.
Let us know how it goes and don’t hesitate to reach out if we can do anything else to help.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Changing the language/LocalisationThanks for the kind words on the plugin Mats. We really appreciate it.
We’re not experts on translation, but there are two approaches that we know of to handle translations. The first option, which is more complicated, is for you to provide the translation directly to WordPress.org at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/wired-impact-volunteer-management/stable/de/default/. On this page it says, “The initial language pack for the plugin will be generated when 90% of the Stable (latest release) sub-project strings have been translated (currently 25%).”
The other option is to use a plugin to help you translate the strings within Wired Impact Volunteer Management specifically for your website. The one we’ve seen recommended many times is Loco Translate. That should be a quicker approach to getting your translation to work.
Of course, we’d rather you provide the translation on WordPress.org so it helps all German speakers use our plugin. But we completely understand that it will likely be more time consuming and complicated.
Like I mentioned, we’re definitely not experts on translation, but let us know if you have any other questions. We’ll do our best to help. Happy holidays!
