it didn’t delete my updates either, but i’m not sure how my app may have differed from yours. if there is a risk of deleting all your updates, proceed with caution

facebook changed something, not the plugin. but i’m hoping they’ll work out what we all need to do to get it running again

my plugin broke too. i went to the new facebook dev link and i can’t make heads or tails of it. not even a link to make a new app, just instructional documents.
help??

mine doesn’t say recent tweets, can you post the link to where it says that? did you change the title of the widget in the widget when you placed it?

i have pretty much all the same complaints as you guys and wrestled with these two plugins for hours last night. eventually i did get social to connect to my twitter account (i was logged into the account at the time, i think that helped). i dont want the new features of Social that lets my visitors create accounts on my site so in the Advanced Options of Social i turned that off.
in the twitter tools settings i did have to pick my account i had just hooked up in Social and even after that it still didn’t work until i clicked it again which opened up further options including a checkbox for ‘enable twitter toos’ (seemed a bit redundant since i was in the settings for twitter tools, one would think that’s implied.)

for those having trouble with the broadcasting portion of Social, i have no advice since i long ago stopped using Twitter Tools for that service. I didn’t like it’s facebook push so i use Facebook Page Publish. I was using it for twitter push until i set up custom URL shortening for my site with Yourls. The only reason i still had Twitter Tools was for the twitter feed sidebar widget as it was by far the best for that.

only thing now is, you used to be able to tweet directly from your sidebar widget if you were logged into the site. this was super convenient as you didn’t need to log out of your own account if you had twitter already open. this is gone now and it was 50% of the whole reason i used this plugin.

displaying only 6 posts at a time on the front page:
in the dashboard go to “Settings” click on “Reading” and enter 6 into the field labeled “Blog pages show at most”. when you look at the front page there should be a button or some text at the bottom that leads to the rest of the posts, it will say ‘more’ or ‘earlier’ or something.

a second page the displays all your posts archived monthly:
you need what’s called an Archive Page. not all themes have one of these by default but the way to find it is this: in the dashboard go to “Pages” and click on the page you want for this purpose (if you haven’t made one already then make one now). in the right hand column there is a box called “Page Attributes”. if your theme already has a default Archives template it will be in this box in the drop-down under “Template”. if your theme does NOT have a “Template” drop-down that means there are no other page template options.
if this is the case, id suggest you do some searching on the topic of creating an Archive Template. it might be a bit of teaching yourself some stuff but on the whole not that hard.
