Works find on Firefox.
I don’t use Chrome, but I have it on my TV and it worked there just fine.

I had a similar problem with the effect I selected.
Now I use jQuery Lightbox (balupton edition).
Make sure in Gallery->Options->Effects had the following setting :
JavaScript Thumbnail effect: Lightbox
Link Code line: rel=”lightbox[%GALLERY_NAME%]”

Yes you can a link to the description. The problem is the picture launches in a separate tab.
Clicking descriptions with the lightbox I recommended allows visitors to down the image.
I may have tried this before with a different nggallery effect.
So you maybe able to do it with a different effect.

I can’t find it now, but there was a nggallery tinymce plugin. Don’t remember the name.
Ultimately I didn’t like it, I think it could let you add links. I could be wrong. I know it let you do more.

Currently what I use. Many of my description are very lengthy. No problem with this version, the description can span multiple line without any issues.
I couldn’t find the link to download from WordPress directly.
I just uploaded the plugin activated, there are settings you can configure. I made sure in Gallery->Options->Effects had the following setting :
JavaScript Thumbnail effect: Lightbox
Link Code line: rel=”lightbox[%GALLERY_NAME%]”

Your post scared me. I’ve been looking to leave my Host GoDaddy. So sick of all their problems, not to mention the things they’ve screwed up with my server.
My site has a massive amount of pictures and would like the move to be hassle free.
Wish I had an answer but I feel this is worth the continued discussion.

Maybe you can re-install, just to remove the slide show widget. Then un-install and see if your problem got resolved.

Wow, did you just link to the gallery on the page ? Looks that way from the page source.
You have to insert the gallery. Either by using the short code or when you make a page or post you can click the icon to insert the gallery.

If you want to completely remove you can FTP into your site and delete the nextgen-gallery.

Inside WordPress goto :
Gallery->Style
Do a find for the following :
#FFFFFF
Replace with
#000000
Change one at a time to make sure everything worked. Easier to track down errors later.
Try re-installing.

Glad you got it working, sorry I wasn’t clear.
I didn’t mean for you to uninstall or remove.
I just meant to upload the file into the same directories. Just run over the old.
I use an FTP program to upload, so it’s a matter of just copying over the directories to the same location.
