Hi @markhowellsmead,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Our team has tried in vain to reproduce the issue with the newest versions of PDA Lite (2.7.4), PDA Gold (3.3.1), and FileBird Lite (4.7.2).
To assist you better, might we know:
- Which PDA version you’re using?
- Do you use FileBird Lite or Pro version?
You might want to drop an email to hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com for faster assistance from our team.
We look forward to your reply.

Currently, when you protect the PDF file, its thumbnail will be also protected but with different file permission.

Hi @claudiozanin,
Thanks for reaching out to us last night.
To assist you better, could you please share with us more about your use case?
- Do your users need to log into your site to upload files?
- How many users do you have? How many files can each user upload on average?
- Which kind of UI experience do you want to improve? For example, displaying uploaded file URLs in the confirmation message or displaying files in the back-end based on users.
If possible, please attach some screenshots of the sample UI you want to achieve for us to check with.
By the way, may we know why you’d like to save the uploaded file URLs to your server?
In fact, you could already access them via the defined folder on your Amazon bucket.

In reply to: [Prevent Direct Access - Protect WordPress Files] DisappointingHi @gallicka,
Thank you for your feedback.
The main feature of Prevent Direct Access (PDA) plugin is to block unauthorized people from accessing your private files. And you can protect your file directly in WordPress Media library to test this feature. By default, only admin users and the file’s author are able to see the protected file.
You can do all of that with the Free version which offers the same UI as the PDA Gold’s.
Those settings options you mention are mainly extended features. Not all user needs them.
Anyway, may we know which features specifically you want to be available in the Lite version?
Also, please share with us what you want to achieve with our plugin. We’re always here to help & will do whatever it takes to assist you.
You can drop us an email at hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com for a faster response.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @npinc,
Thanks for your feedback. We really appreciate it.
We believe there must be some misunderstanding here as our Free version does offer more than just hotlinking prevention.
In fact, our free version does provide:
– private download links and access restriction features
– block search indexing
– protect WordPress Uploads directory
– the same file protection method and UI as the Gold version. It does exactly what we have advertised and described on WordPress. You only need our PDA Gold when you want more advanced file protection features.
More importantly, we do NOT charge monthly fees as we’re a service. All of our licenses are paid annually. And you can always cancel your subscription at any time.
We do show the monthly price just to show users that it’s not that expensive to get our plugin.
We understand that the fees may look high to you. The reality is most premium plugins are charging more or less the same prices.
Thousands of users worldwide enjoy using both our Lite and Gold version due to the values they bring compared to the cost.
So while we appreciate your feedback, we hope you can drop us a private message instead so that we can improve our products and pricing for the better of all.
By the way, may we know what you want to achieve with our plugin in the first place?
We’re always here to help & will do whatever it takes to assist you.
We look forward to hearing from you.

In reply to: [SSU - WordPress Amazon S3 & Wasabi Smart File Uploads Plugin] PHP Warning!Hi @luismt74,
Thanks for letting us know.
It looks like our library is trying to read the default config File(/home/mysite/.aws/config). However, it’s not granted permission by your server (not within the allowed paths). That’s why the warning displays.
By the way, which hosting provider are you using?
Do you have total control over your server, e.g. files, config, & permission?Forum: Plugins

Hey @yarone,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
By encrypting the file path, you want its URL to look randomized like yourdomain.com/sdfa7987897sf98/787kl89k79.pdf, don’t you?
Anyway, may we know why you want to encrypt those file paths?
Please be aware that obscurity, e.g. hiding file URL, is not security. So it’s better to actually protect the files with real permission, i.e. only his employees can view or download those files.
