This issue will be fixed in the new version, releasing soon. It contains several bug fixes and has been entirely rewritten.

Thanks for the donation. I’m working feverishly to get v3 ready for beta testers. Every time I think I am almost done, I find another bug that I don’t want beta testers to find first.

The only remaining piece is the v2 to v3 migration. v2 used a custom database table, where v3 uses a lot of built-in WP magic, such as custom post types. It makes for a much more seamless and consistent experience, and eliminates a lot of the bugs such as the edit function not working properly.

Thanks again for the support and vote of confidence. I’m trying my best to get this out to testers within a week.

You can edit reviews manually in the database using phpmyadmin or a similar tool. The 2.x version runs it’s own database table which should be easy to find. I believe the table name would start with wp_wpcr or wpcr_

isle2isle – I’m always happy to accept donations. You can find a “donate” link on the main plugin page ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-customer-reviews/ ) and then scroll all the way down on the page it opens to find the donation button. Money is a motivator 😉

mcbjag – We’re not planning on releasing updates to 2.x because 3.x is so close to being ready for testers.

It’s been the same developer this entire time (me) and will continue to be. It actually horrifies me to look at the 2.x codebase since the 3.x is so much more refined and easier to work with. 3.x also uses custom post types which opens up the possibility to integrate with other plugins much easier. It will be worth the wait 🙂

It’s still being worked on. Life happened.

The new version is 95% completed and just needs some final touches to fix some bugs before it goes out to testers. Sorry this is taking so long. It is a side project for me until the pro version comes out. Once v3 is final, I can then convince my CFO (wife) that making the pro version and supporting free and pro would be worth the time commitment.

P.S. – If anybody has a time machine or cloning device, please let me know. This would help out a lot 🙂

v3.0 uses custom posts, so you can change the date just as you would with a post or page date. I’m finishing up on the new version and expect it to be released around the new year.

The plugin probably became deactivated. Just try clicking one of the buttons on the lower part of the settings page and it should re-activate and all settings will appear.

The new version of WP Customer Reviews (3.x) changes the review format from hReview to microdata which Google prefers and it also allows for less issues with themes and other plugins. It also adds the aggregate review for each page/post which solves a few problems all at once.

Look for the beta of it soon. You can sign up for the beta from the plugin page on the gowebsolutions website.

I’m the developer and we respond to emails and the forum when we have time. Right now we are doing this for free (including the new version 3) so you could understand it isn’t top priority for us to provide free support. When version 3 is ready for beta testers, we are planning on releasing a Pro version which will have priority support for paying customers and we’ll offer paid support for users of the free version as well.

We didn’t disappear, we’ve just been busy working on many different projects and the plugin timeline got delayed. I’m nearly done with the complete plugin rewrite and hope to have it out to beta testers within a couple of weeks.

We’ll look into the option for using web fonts for the stars. It’s actually a really good idea with modern browsers and all. The other option is to provide multiple images but nobody will ever be happy even with 50 options 🙂

Turn off hCard display to prevent business information from showing on all pages. Email is not a required field, so if you do want the hCard displayed (it does not really have a benefit any longer) , you can do that and leave the email blank.

It does duplicate comment functionality and we are aware of this. We’ve thrown around the idea of adding ratings to comments, but sometimes people do want to comment on a page/post and also rate it separately. It would cause more issues if we did it differently unfortunately.

The CAPTCHA check is more than you think. 99% of automated spam bots will not be able to submit the form. If you look into the Javascript and logic behind it all, it would be “nearly” impossible for a bot to submit the form.

I have seen the rating stars flicker on some themes. We’ll look into a fix for that and maybe provide some different options for rating star styles.

You need to turn off the hCard completely. This was a semi-good idea when the plugin was released, but has become dated now and is a problem with many themes. If you disable the business hCard, it will no longer display the business information at the bottom of every page which does cause an issue with many themes and it doesn’t benefit anybody to have that option.

This will be addressed in 3.0 ( hCard will be removed from the plugin ) so look forward to that version soon. For now, try the plugin again with disabling hCard in the settings and all should be well.

We try to minimize conflicts as much as possible. The reviews of the plugin speak for themselves in that 99.9% of sites have no issue at all. That leaves the other 0.1% which do have issues. We do care about our users and reputation and try to respond to all detailed reports of bugs.

I hope you try version 3 which will be released soon and hopefully will resolve the issues that you were experiencing, whatever they were.

We are planning on adding translation support to 3.0

It may not be released with the support, but it is definitely on our radar and a much desired feature. I’m finishing up on the 3.0 beta right now which is a complete rewrite to allow it to support many of the requested features.
