In reply to: [Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] Request for a new hookThe hook was just added in the new 4.0b3 beta. Sorry, somehow I totally forgot about this topic. Thanks for bringing it up again!
@all: Please try the new 4.0b3 version which should fix some bugs:
http://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-dl-beta/@solvedproblemscom: Bug should be fixed in 4.0b3
@itexpert: Should not cause any conflicts 🙂 Please try the new 4.0b3 beta and your error should be gone!
@ofer Wald: I’ve added the hook to the AddUrl function. Allowing other plugins to add additional pages was one of the major goals of the refactoring. Please see here for an example how to add an extra sitemap for your items. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! 🙂
solvedproblemscom, thanks for your feedback. Could you post a link to the not working category sitemap or the source code on pastebin? It would be good to know if there is an error, because if it just empty Google shouldn’t say that there was an invalid tag…
@all: Please try the new 4.0b2 version which should fix some bugs:
http://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-dl-beta/
@rlmckenney: The date should be the date of your last posting or the static page if you’ve chosen in WordPress to display a static page as your frontpage.
@webjunkie: Fixed in 4.0b2, thanks for the note!
@n2rga: The 4.0b2 version adds the rewrite rules in a different way then before, can you try if it works now? If not, could you install the AA Rewrite Viewer and check if they are added? You should see them on the plugin panel within “extra_rules_top” under “feeds”.
@josextrema: there are no limits, so it should include all your published posts. Could you provide a link to your site?
Thank you all for testing!
Hi Olivier,
the plugin doesn’t generate any links by itself but uses the WP API with functions like get_bloginfo(‘url’) to get the Blog URL and get_permalink() to get the post URLs. I could add a workaround by changing the results of the API calls to http, but I really think this issue needs to be fixed somewhere else.
I guess when you open the edit post screen and click the Preview button, it also opens the post on your main site with https, right?
Also please try if the new version (4.0b1) fixes your problem:
n2rga, could you try to re-save your permalink settings in WordPress? Maybe they were not registered successfully.
The plugin basically works, see http://bloginsphere.com/index.php?xml_sitemap=params=
Aaron, thank you very much again for your changes. I will integrate them later for sure!
n2rga, could you give me more details about what exactly didn’t work? What happened when you tried to access the sitemap?
Just don’t use old WordPress versions 😉
Hiding the version string doesn’t make the blog more secure. If there is a security related bug a hacker will probably just try if it works instead of comparing the version.
And if somebody _really_ wants to know which version you are running there are many other ways to find out.

I don’t think this plugin does anything great beside of causing problems with other plugins.
I just had a quick look at the source code of the “wp security scan” plugin and as far as I understood, it sets the $wp_version to ‘abc’ in some cases, which of course is totally stupid if a plugin needs to check the version of WordPress to determine the available features.
I can not say for sure that this is the problem because I didn’t install the plugin yet, but it could be (and also easily cause problems with other plugins).
Oh, I just saw the sitemap tag in my feed reader 😉
Hi,
I would wait until the next major release, which fully supports the new multisite feature of WordPress. You can help speeding up the development time by trying the alpha version:

The next version will split the sitemap by month.
20k? Ok thats a lot… The problem is that WordPres tries to cache everything, the query result, the objects and so on. So there will be probably a few 20k arrays in the memory somewhere.
For me the archives look fine? They should point to the WP archives like http://wordpress.org/news/2010/09/
