Hi guys,
sorry for not replying. I was abroad for studying and writing my diploma, so there was not really much time to do anything.
I will have a look at the problems you’re experiencing now!
Custom Post Type support is also definitely on the todo-list, but first I want to fix these 404s which some of you getting.
Thanks,
Arne
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. The upcoming version of the plugin will build the sitemap dynamically without static files, so there is no need to copy anything anymore 🙂

Hi,
you can check out the new test version of the original Google XML Sitemaps plugin, which supports the multisite mode and doesn’t have this problem.

Hi all,
thank you very much for testing. Could you try if the new version fixes the problems with empty sitemaps and Google errors?
@solvedproblemscom: I can not reproduce the “ERROR: sitemap is not a valid feed template.” error on any of my test sites. If you want, you can contact me under arne at arnebrachhold d0t de so we can have a look directly at your site.
@sahaskatta: Does your problem still persist? Sometimes Google has just problems to connect to your site.
@dan & Jennifer: I don’t know yet, since I will only release it after all problems are gone.
@nasul: 1000 posts a day? That is a little bit much… Could you provide a link to your site?
@irishrunner16 & webjunkie: Does your problem still persist? The 404 bug should be already fixed, sometimes Google needs some time to fetch the sitemap again.
Thanks again for testing!
Hi mattifesto,
Thanks for your suggestion! The upcoming version 4 will be more clear about this. The 3.x versions are still PHP4 compatible, so I’m not able to add static or visibility keywords. The 4.0 version of the plugin will be PHP5 only, so it will be much cleaner then 🙂
Please download the current version (version string didn’t change) again. The 404 Not found bug should hopefully be fixed now. Thanks again for testing!
And also since all password protected posts look exactly the same to Google, it would probably been seen as duplicate content.
This is not supported at the moment, and I don’t have any plans to add this feature since Google wouldn’t see any content anyway?
Thanks for using the plugin!
Well, only a small percentage of the WP installations are multi site blogs, so confusing the majority of users with an incompatibility warning message doesn’t sound good to me 🙂
