Another suggestion, since you mentioned ending on a shared server, to control CPU usage is to try disabling Live Traffic.
Thanks,
BrianHi,
That is odd. The free version should only scan your site once every 24 hours. When did this start happening?
Thanks,
BrianHi,
Of course, the answer to your question is yes 🙂
If your CSV file is outside of your WordPress install, then Wordfence will not scan for it by default. If the CSV file is in your WordPress install, you could exclude it from getting scanned. You should be good there.
You can always start with the free version. We are not permitted to discuss the Premium version here due to WordPress forum rules. You can check out the differences at our website.
Or email at presales@wordfence.com
Thanks for your interest in Wordfence!
BrianHi,
How much memory is allocated to your site? You may be running out of memory. Are you seeing a memory error? Try “Test your WordPress host’s available memory” near the bottom of the Wordfence options page, and let us know
Thanks!
BrianHi,
Thanks for the question. The short answer is no, Wordfence does not offer the option to password protect a directory. You can accomplish that by modifying your .htaccess file. Here is an article from us on how to properly password protect /wp-admin/ using .htaccess.
Hope that helps,
BrianHi,
Sorry to hear you are having issues getting things going. First, try disabling the config cache. If that doesn’t work, there may be an issue in creating some database tables.
Here are the instructions:
Please post back with the results.
Thanks!
BrianHi,
You just need one key for a multisite install.
Thanks!
BrianHi,
Sounds like there is still a “leak” somewhere. The first thing to do is make sure WordPress and all of your plugins are updated. Is your theme up-to-date? Also, make sure to remove any unused themes and plugins.
Thanks!
BrianHI,
Blocking countries can cause problems with Google Adwords if you have them on your site.
If you have more questions on the Premium version of Wordfence, please send them here:
Due to the forum rules, we can only handle free support here. The Premium product is supported separately via email and a premium ticketing system.

BrianCorrect, it’s under Options->Alerts->Maximum email alerts to send per hour.
I’ll mark this as resolved. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for using Wordfence!
-BrianSounds like a cron job is running every 15 minutes triggering an event that empties the cache. Do you have any cron jobs setup on your server? Server cron jobs run at a set time interval. WordPress also has cron jobs but they rely on a visitor triggering it, so the job wouldn’t run exactly every 15 minutes.

Hi,
Do you have your alerts set from each site to send at maximum of 1 per hour? That would help reduce the number of emails but at 40 sites, I can see how your getting a lot of alerts. You can turn the email alerts off by removing the email address from the “Where to email alerts” field, though I do not recommend that. Maybe setup some rules via email to filter the alerts to a separate folder out of your inbox. Then you could check that folder to see the alert status. There is no way to stop the attacks but using Wordfence protects you against them.
Thanks for using WordFence!
-BrianHi Keith,
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it on. We look at all suggestions that are provided but can’t guarantee a feature will be added.
Thanks!
BrianIf you can disable those plug-ins for a 30 minute period, then you could see if that makes any difference. That’s where I’d start.
A big benefit of Falcon is that it gives your site the ability to handle a lot more traffic in a short period of time. This is beneficial against DoS attacks. Even if you’re cache is emptying every hour, you’ll still see the benefit if/when an attack happens.
Hi,
Another thing to check is that your server meets the system requirements. You may also want to disable Live Traffic to give your site more processing power if you are on a shared host.

If you meet the requirements, let us know and we can troubleshoot more.
Thanks!
