Thanks @petermatthesius
This is actually a known issue ( see https://github.com/matomo-org/wp-matomo/issues/339). You can ignore this message and ideally you click on “Report as safe” so Microsoft becomes aware of this or you can click on “Show unsafe content” (see the previous link, I think you get to see those buttons by clicking on the icon left to the URL).
We have been trying to reach Microsoft to remove this false alert but we haven’t heard back from them.
I’ll try to detect it in the future if someone uses Matomo using Edge browser and then show a message so it’s more clear what is happening and what to do in this case.
Sorry about that but for now the only workaround is to click on one of those mentioned buttons. We’re hoping MS will eventually fix this.
sorry about this. Which browser are you having this issue with? By any chance is it MS Edge? Do you know what exactly the message says in this case?
Hi @tille
Thank you for creating this issue.
Unfortunately, Matomo Mobile doesn’t support Matomo for WordPress currently. We have documented this in https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/does-matomo-for-wordpress-work-with-the-matomo-mobile-app/ and https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/what-are-the-differences-between-matomo-on-premise-and-matomo-for-wordpress/
We have now also added this to our Google Play Store description (should be live soon) and we will also add this to the requirements of our app in the iOS app store.
Sorry I don’t have better news.
If you want to follow the progress on this and have a GitHub account feel free to check out this link where we report on the progress of this issue: https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo-mobile-2/issues/5410
We are evaluating as part of our Matomo 4 release if we can support Matomo for WordPress but we’re not sure yet if and when this will be.
Thanks @sebibiller just wanted to let you know we received the system report and followed up there by email. Cheers
Have a great day too @jimmy19742
Hi @jimmy19742 they should be all removed indeed. The files and the tables. Was there any issue?
Hi @sebibiller sorry about that. Any chance you could send us the system report info (see https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/how-do-i-find-and-copy-the-system-report-in-matomo-for-wordpress/ ) by email to wordpress at matomo.org or paste it here in the comment (it should be anonymised)?
We would then try to reproduce it using the same plugins.
Hi @eftcolumbus sorry about that again. I’ll get support to reply to you on this one as it probably requires a workaround to get this to work. Thanks for your patience.
Hi @groovice
depending on your server you may be able to track 100K or more page views a month but really depends on the server and how many resources there are free.
There is a way to migrate your existing data using our Migration plugin: https://plugins.matomo.org/Migration?wp=1&matomoversion=3
It still shows a beta notice currently but it works well and we need to remove that notice.
You would basically install Matomo On-Premise and then install the referenced plugin in your Matomo On-Premise. You can then transfer the data using the shown command.
@psychosopher I’ll mark the issue as resolved as I haven’t heard from you in a while but happy to follow up should the issue still be there.
Hope it helps 🙂 Let us know in case there’s still an issue afterwards.
BTW here’s the link to the FAQ where it’s documented also in case someone is looking for it: https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/i-have-a-problem-how-do-i-troubleshoot-and-enable-wp_debug/
@eftcolumbus fyi we started making some improvements to the download page explaining a bit more about the version selector and how to find your version number etc. We also added options to directly choose “Matomo for WordPress” now. Hoping this makes things a bit more easy.
Thanks for this @preliot
I have prepared a fix for this in https://github.com/matomo-org/wp-matomo/pull/355 where by default we now log less. Additionally we now support the ability to disable all logging and to force the logging of all messages. It’s documented in above link as well as in https://github.com/matomo-org/wp-matomo/pull/355
It will be included in the next release.
Thanks for mentioning it I could see how much it was actually logging 🙂
Hi @eftcolumbus thanks again for this. I have seen the chat now and can totally understand where you’re coming from. Be sure that we will improve this in the future.
What happened is that this Matomo plugin includes currently Matomo 3 but the downloaded plugin is only compatible with Matomo 4. We have just released the first beta for Matomo 4 and are in the process of rolling this out in a few weeks. It’s confusing in the download page that Matomo 4 is preselected when it’s not fully released yet. Sorry about that. We’re also about to align the version number for our WordPress and our On-Premise version to avoid confusion in the future.
So here’s what you can do to solve this issue. Go to https://shop.matomo.org/my-account/downloads/ and select “Show downloads for Matomo 3” see https://imgur.com/a/zKJ7uKb There you can then download the correct version for your WordPress.
I think you mentioned that you were downloading using the license key. So alternatively you can also go to https://plugins.matomo.org/download . Then select “Matomo 3” see this screenshot https://imgur.com/a/wEKuXJB
The downloaded zip should be for example
HeatmapSessionRecording-3.2.39.zip.You will basically want to uninstall the previous version of Heatmaps & Session Recording and then upload this newly downloaded zip file.
In the list of “Installed Plugins” in your WordPress it should look like this: https://imgur.com/a/PWYlweT
I will also check that in the future we can make this more usable in the UI and explain things before downloading a plugin manually since I totally understand this can be quite confusing.
I hope this helps?
@eftcolumbus here we can unfortunately only give support for the plugin itself. Any premium feature related support would need to go through the email unfortunately. If a reply wasn’t so helpful be great to let us know and we’ll try to do better as we’re always trying to deliver great support.
