Hi @eftcolumbus
When you use Matomo for WordPress, there is indeed no need to preload any DNS because the domain is the same as your main website.
You could however preload the Matomo JS tracking file which is typically located in https://yourdomain/wp-content/uploads/matomo/matomo.js. You can follow our [FAQ for finding the correct path to the JS tracker file](https://matomo.org/faq/wordpress/how-do-i-find-the-javascript-tracker-url-that-is-used-in-matomo-for-wordpress/).

Thank yo for these replies. I will figure out how to load that resource with my cache plugin.
You have been helpful, I am not getting any useful support from shop@innocraft.com for the Heatmap plugin I purchased for Matomo (which isn’t working), if I created a new ticket on this forum for that would you be able to help me?

@eftcolumbus here we can unfortunately only give support for the plugin itself. Any premium feature related support would need to go through the email unfortunately. If a reply wasn’t so helpful be great to let us know and we’ll try to do better as we’re always trying to deliver great support.
Do you have another email address I could use? I have written to the shop one multiple times but my emails aren’t being read and just random suggestions are being made without regard to what I wrote. I took your advice and just provided feedback on his responses via the Not Good option.
I guess I’d also want to know is this one person always going to be my only choice for support with premium plugins?
Because it’s super frustrating when I bought the plugin Monday morning and it’s still not working after 3 full business days. As I told him I get This Page does not Exist when I click Create Heatmap and then when I hit settings I get big red error warnings that The plugin HeatmapSessionRecording could not be loaded as it has missing dependencies: HeatmapSessionRecording requires Matomo >=4.0.0-b1. Please contact your Matomo administrator.
The last email I sent over 24 hours ago I just went full screenshot mode since he wasn’t reading my words, and I haven’t heard anything.
I would love another email address if there is one?

Hi @eftcolumbus thanks again for this. I have seen the chat now and can totally understand where you’re coming from. Be sure that we will improve this in the future.
What happened is that this Matomo plugin includes currently Matomo 3 but the downloaded plugin is only compatible with Matomo 4. We have just released the first beta for Matomo 4 and are in the process of rolling this out in a few weeks. It’s confusing in the download page that Matomo 4 is preselected when it’s not fully released yet. Sorry about that. We’re also about to align the version number for our WordPress and our On-Premise version to avoid confusion in the future.
So here’s what you can do to solve this issue. Go to https://shop.matomo.org/my-account/downloads/ and select “Show downloads for Matomo 3” see https://imgur.com/a/zKJ7uKb There you can then download the correct version for your WordPress.
I think you mentioned that you were downloading using the license key. So alternatively you can also go to https://plugins.matomo.org/download . Then select “Matomo 3” see this screenshot https://imgur.com/a/wEKuXJB
The downloaded zip should be for example HeatmapSessionRecording-3.2.39.zip.
You will basically want to uninstall the previous version of Heatmaps & Session Recording and then upload this newly downloaded zip file.
In the list of “Installed Plugins” in your WordPress it should look like this: https://imgur.com/a/PWYlweT
I will also check that in the future we can make this more usable in the UI and explain things before downloading a plugin manually since I totally understand this can be quite confusing.
I hope this helps?

@eftcolumbus fyi we started making some improvements to the download page explaining a bit more about the version selector and how to find your version number etc. We also added options to directly choose “Matomo for WordPress” now. Hoping this makes things a bit more easy.
Thank you Thomas. I was able to download the correct plugin and the additional drop down menus on the download page made it clear. I kept asking the shop email person to just send me the correct zip file based on my 1.3 Matomo plugin but I guess that was another bit of the ticket he didn’t read.
Hopefully he can be trained to read through the tickets to make sure he understands AND test his suggested solutions before providing them in the future.
Unfortunately most of the traffic to the page I wanted to heatmap was on Monday when I bought the plugin, and I won’t have another big burst of traffic for another few weeks, but I am excited to see Heatmaps in use.
Thomas could you also take a look at the ticket I submitted through the website under Matomo Premium support about the heatmap and tabs. I got a response from Jason that showed the ticket in history, but he didn’t address it at all. It was from 5am Friday NZ time. The heatmap isn’t showing usage of other tabs on the page, which I need.

Hi @eftcolumbus sorry about that again. I’ll get support to reply to you on this one as it probably requires a workaround to get this to work. Thanks for your patience.
