We think this issue might be related to the compatibility of you theme, as all seems to work with BuddyBoss plugin on our side.
I suggest you report this issue to the authors of your theme.

We made some tests with our plugin on one of our theme (armadon-theme.com), but we can’t reproduce this issue.
We think this might be related to an incompatibility with your theme and our plugin. To make sure, could you please deactivate Verified Member plugin and check if this issue still occurs? If it’s the case, I suggest you to report this issue to your theme authors. They might need to make the compatibility with our plugin in their theme.
Concerning your second issue, could you please make sure the “Display Unverified Badge” feature is unchecked in Dashboard > Settings > BuddyPress > Verified Member?

Indeed, this feature could be a nice addition to our plugin. This feature is indeed available, for example, on Twitter, but you can imagine that such a site is supported by a massive team of developers.
This feature is a bit complex to put in place. However, we’ll take this in consideration if other members mark their interest in it.

Verified Member for BuddyPress plugin is not compatible with Youzify, as this plugin has his own Verify Member feature.

But I’m afraid that if you’re using Youzify, there is no interest using this plugin.Best,
