In reply to: 3.3 – Cannot upload filesJust gave IE a spin — used IE 9 compat mode, IE 8, and IE 7 no go on the ‘Drag and Drop’ issue (I used the developer mode F12 to change browser modes)
“giants-vs-redskins.gif” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to E:\website/wp-content/uploads/2011/12.So for now, I guess I will stick with the 3.2.1 which was fine for me…
P.S. if there were a method to attach screenshots, I would… I have captured side-by-side chrome vs IE Upload New Media page views… The IE looks just like the old 3.2.1 and other than the permissions issue works the same as 3.2.1

In reply to: 3.3 – Cannot upload filesThe big issue is the permissions issue, unable to write to “wp-content/uploads/12/” on one of the threads someone pointed to some sort of PHP issues however, she did not get specific
I was able to upload photos, etc if I changed the permissions on wp-content to write as well (very unsafe method IMHO) however, when I broke permissions to plugins and themes, issues writing to the cache in the theme cropped up…
I switched to the 2011 theme that came with 3.3 and renamed my plugins to plugins-old and still same issues with writing to the uploads folder…
I then logged directly into the desktop of my server, fired up the web site, login to WP 3.3 and still could not upload which is strange since overall, I was logged into the desktop as admin, and admin to WP as well….

Also, I reverted back to the original folder/file permissions and still cannot upload/save images…

In reply to: File Upload Error After Upgrading to 3.3@rtk – are you able to write to the Plugins folder now? That is, have you attempted to place or replace/update plugins to that folder yet? I was given a denied error even login as administrator…
Had to give the folder write privileges to all again to correct the error…

Is the “Drag and Drop” feature appearing now as well? I have attempted to use the default WP theme, and had to make some rather unusual permissions changes however, that did not fix the drag and drop issue (which is not working regardless of the upload issue)…

In reply to: 3.3 – Cannot upload filesUpdate – I changed permissions on the WP-Content folder to write then allowed to propagate to the children directories after which, I changed permissions on the themes and plugin folders removing the write privileges and that seemed to allow the uploads
However, I am NOT getting the “Drag and Drop” feature to activate it is still the standard upload dialogue box

In reply to: File Upload Error After Upgrading to 3.3Regarding the Windows Server issues (to which I rolled back my installation as it is not working either) it depends on whether you are using the Windows “Web Server” or the full blown release of the server. That is, a regular Windows server works with additional account privileges based on Active directory rights and the Web Server addition does not.
Hope that makes sense, I am very ill at the moment and not thinking clearly but, granting privileges as you stated above, “modify” instead of write leaves your files wide open to malicious attack…
I am guessing it has something to do with the code since; I have never had this issue through the 3.x.x process…
I opened a new thread hoping for an answer… I have a dedicated serve so; I am not fighting with the hosting company regarding rights, privileges, etc…

In reply to: CentOS 5.7@clayton – first off, you haven’t completely or are incapable of reading and comprehending the posted question so, your childish remarks should be simply ignored by all…
To the rest of the free thinking world (and oh by the way, I used to work for RedHat, I quit after a month of that foolishness) if you are at the least bit interested in setting up your own test bed server at home, and would prefer to use a server GUI along with a desktop GUI (as Microsoft also provides both for their servers, try researching your statements before you make such foolish comments Clayton) then go with Gnome as, it will make testing the stand-alone server along with your worpdress installations much easier. Just make certain you login using ‘root’ as the username, you may switch between console with CTL+ALT+F1 and then applying init 5 (try several sequences of init 1,3,5,6 etc) to switch back to the desktop to open firefox to check your local installation of wordpress (or to set it up for that matter). Right clicking the Gnome window and choosing a terminal window works as well.
Now, for the most important issues addressed by myself, and once again ignored by a visitor that simply choose to provide negative feedback about something he did not like, and does not fully understand (must be a republican) you will need to upgrade the PHP and MySQL to run WP 3.x.x less the install will throw errors.
Finally, you will need to dig through a plethora of repo’s before you will find a compatible and easy solution to the above problems, I would strongly suggest going ZEN CE as many hosting companies use a ZEN Enterprise solution next, finding the repo that has the correct MySQL version as, “out of the box” CentOS (a freebie shareware server poorly maintained) comes with a version of MySQL that is so out of date, your logs will become instantly filled with error messages regarding the changes used in the new “framework” style that worpress and many top-end theme developers are using these days along with, a plethora of plugin issues.
If interested, and I doubt many out there will set-up a standalone server for use, and need help finding the proper solutions to this mess of an OS, CentOS 5.7 send me an email and I will point you in the proper direction… and have a nice day (Please note, this thread had been closed prior to some smartass dropping in a comment)

I have to say, even though this is free (CentOS) Microsoft way out classes it inclusive of support, ease of installation, and conformity.. You want to update a browser, bada bing it’s done, with this stuff (linux) tar balls, rpm’s, yum… I can’t see how anyone can actually seriously state this is the preferred OS out in the wild with the exception it is free…

If you’re Windows installation is broken go to the Microsoft forums as, you are the ONLY person I know that had issues with this install process… Microsoft employees thousands of top-end developers that are degreed individuals that are there to provide product development, security monitoring, and support whereas, any opensourse OS you use, you are on your own and must collaborate with a series of programmers and hacks…
Your issues are simple security issues… you need to read up just a little on the use of IIS and Windows 7… you will find a plethora of web resources out there from bona fide professionals…
If you cannot accomplish this, believe this, you would be unable to use any advanced methods or unix/linux style installations…
To resolve your issue, simply allow anonymous access to your seb site you created via IIS Management console otherwise, your site is IN FACT working 100% once again simply because you failed to follow the instructions presented to you during the web matrix install…
Be careful however, if you are not using a firewall, and allow anonymous access to IIS then you are allowing the world access as well… It is the way WordPress works…
IF you want to access your installation with a user name and password, I would suggest simply using the same information you use to log on to your Windows 7 box… Have a nice day

The above is “Line 2165” and the associated logged errors showing up…
I just simply disabled the plugin… Once the above error began on my site, Wordbooker simply began posting random images to facebook page regardless as to whether I choose the thumbnail option or not… looked really cheesie to post something about an Iraq vet being injured and a thumbnail of Lady Gaga attached to it…
