In reply to: changing font colour in specific sidebar itemThanks, innuvo. I think the style sheet part is fine. However, I obviously put your recommended div in the wrong place within the widget coding, because the div coding was visible on the home page under the existing text below the “RSS Feed” heading. (I have since deleted it).
The widget coding is as follows:
<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheBoomtownRap" title="Subscribe to my feed" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml"><img src="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/images/pub/feed-icon32x32.png" alt="" style="border:0"/></a><a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheBoomtownRap" title="Subscribe to my feed" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml">Subscribe in a reader</a>Would u mind inserting your suggested div where it is supposed to go, so I can get this right and save it as an example to use in future? Would be most appreciative.
Cheers

In reply to: changing font colour in specific sidebar itemThanks for your response, innuvo. You’re correct about it being created in a widget.
I have only a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, but have managed to apply and modify coding recommended by folk who are knowledgeable in these areas and willing to assist. So, if you – or anyone else looking on – could suggest some coding that would change the font colour just of the text under “RSS Feed”, would be much appreciated.

In reply to: Twenty Twelve frontpage templates not showing comments formHi ekinyasa
Christian’s code actually is correct and does work. I made a mistake that was preventing it working. For full explanation, see page 2 of the following long thread:

Posts 14, 15, 16 and 17 on page 2 are the ones you need to read. Any probs, please post back.

In reply to: Warning: in_array() messageHi WPYogi! Done!
Thanks to you and Andrew and best of the festive season to you both – and all the good folk who contribute to WP Support.

In reply to: Warning: in_array() messageDone. The problem appears when the ‘Podcasting Plugin by TSG’ is activated. The WPAudio plugin is not causing any issue.
So, I guess I should delete the problematic plugin?

In reply to: Warning: in_array() messageHi Andrew.
I have two podcasting plugins installed: Podcasting Plugin by TSG, and WPaudio. I guess it has to be one of those, but not sure which!
Actually, I’m not sure why I have them both installed. But there hasn’t been any issue until now.

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?Fabbo, Michael!
I’ve been through all pages of the site, and everything checks out AOK. Realised on the way through that the different backgrounds of specific pages were not displaying, went through the stylesheet and noticed the appropriate code had somehow been corrupted, fixed it up, and voila – site now officially complete!
Looking back through this now epic thread, you’ve not only provided a solution for every issue I had, but have also educated me on stylesheet layout, and a whole lotta other things. I probably sound like I’m gushing with extravagant praise and politeness, but sincerely, Michael, you’ve been a godsend. I just cannot thank you enough.
All the very best to you. If we weren’t living in a virtual world, I’d buy you something decent to charge your glass up with.
Cheers!

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet? That’s strange, Michael. When I look at the site here (I’ve checked in FF, IE and Chrome), the widgets are positioned in the footers of the Front Page template pages, as intended.
What on earth could account for your seeing different placement from me? Arrrggghh!

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?G’day Michael.
YOU’VE PINGED IT! Before, I just copied the front-page.php file over from parent to child. I didn’t make a sub-directory entitled page-templates! I have now, though – and everything works as it should!
Sorry you went through all that coding to create an alternative solution for me. If it’s any consolation, you’ve taught me a lot on the way, and I’m very appreciative of that.
Just one last thing – a small styling issue. How do I now centre the ‘Download Geeks Album’ and ‘Download Orphans Album’ text over the Bandcamp player widgets, please (as you did with the players when they were under your ‘Custom Footer Widget 1’)?
I have your code, but don’t know how to identify the widgets for CSS purposes now that they’re under the First Front Page widgets area.
What a fantastic help you’ve been.
Cheers!

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?Hi Michael. We have a long weekend over this way, and I’ve been offline until now. Sorry for this delay in responding.
Your original goal was to be able to use the Front-Page template but have comments on it correct?
Correct.
I am actually curious as to why Christian1012’s suggestion of adding
<?php comments_template( ”, true ); ?>
to the front-page template is not working on your site.
That code does, indeed, work if I put it between the two lines of code you specify in the FP Template file of the Twenty Twelve parent theme. However, when I copy the FP Template file over to my Child Theme and add the code mod there, there are unwanted effects with the sidebars on pages using the Default template. That is, all the widgets in the sidebar on the pages using the Default template disappear, and in their place the footer widgets appear!
Before our exchanges in this thread, I had decided to commit the big no-no of making that mod to the parent theme, and had resigned myself to having to keep making it every time there was an update to the Twenty Twelve theme. Of course, I’d much rather do it the right way by modding my Child Theme – I just couldn’t figure out why doing so was messing up my sidebars on the Default templates. If you can, would be terrif!

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?Hi Michael
From my end, the content on the Front Page Widget areas does show up on all other pages on my site – that’s the only remaining problem.
Please note, my home page uses the Default template, not the Full Width No Sidebar template. I don’t want the footer widgets to show up on any page using the Default page template. If you can make it so the Default page doesn’t display the widgets, that’s the final hurdle negotiated.
Thanks for your amazing persistence!
Cheers

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?Hi Michael
The standard footer widget area I was using pre your coding was ‘First Front Page Widget Area’. Came with the Twenty Twelve theme. I shifted the widgets out of there into your Custom Footer Widget 1 area.
Does that answer your question? If not, I can take a screenshot of my widget page.
Cheers!

In reply to: Twenty Twelve: how to change hyperlink color on pagesNo worries, wpfan 1000. And again, appreciate your contribution. Your coding doubtless does work – I suspect I’ve modded my child theme so much that my current coding sometimes negates new coding. But maybe it doesn’t work like that! I have much to learn.
Cheers

In reply to: Are there any obvious errors in my stylesheet?Michael, I’ll leave the site up with your coding changes for another 24 hours. It looks fine, except when reduced, and then only the footer widgets are affected. So, readers can live with that a while longer!
Re the Default Template pages displaying the footer widgets when I don’t want them to, if fixing this is complicated maybe this is an instance where I should use that plugin you mentioned?
Cheers
