In reply to: deleted tags showing 404 errorsThanks for your response, doubledesign, and for your clear explanation of the 404 tag errors.
I do use Yoast SEO, and clicking on the XML Sitemap indicates that the XML Sitemap Index file contains 4 sitemaps. Evidently, Google is not picking this up, because Search Console suggests that I submit a sitemap – I guess this means they don’t have one at present.
May I ask, please, how do I go about submitting the sitemap.xml to Google through Search Console?
Cheers

In reply to: Receiving multiple notifications for new commentsWell, knocked over by the response!
For the benefit of anyone experiencing the same issue, my excellent web host Support team have identified the problem. It was a setting on the Options page of the ‘Subscribe To Comments Reloaded’ plugin.
I had the ‘BCC admin on Notifications’ enabled, which meant I was BCCd for every notification sent to a subscriber’s email address. There were many addresses subscribed to the post in question, so the plugin was adding my email address in BCC for every message sent to a subscriber’s address.
I don’t recall selecting that BCC option, but must have done at some stage (can’t imagine it was selected by default). So, all sorted at last – I’d been receiving these multiple notifications for years, and had never managed to get to the bottom of. Neither had anyone else who checked into it. Just goes to show, sometimes the obvious possibilities are overlooked.

In reply to: [Post Grid] Possible to display past posts in grid display automatically?OK, no responses, so maybe I’ve asked too much.
So, to reduce my queries to a simple single question:
Is it possible using the Post Grid plugin to have all posts in a selected Category display in grid form?If anyone using this plugin could assist, would be appreciated.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration errorYou were right, buzztone – my spam folder was full of messages sent via the contact form, including mine of today.
I’ve acted on your recommendation re making the Form field a valid email address on my host domain (had to create an email address within my CP first – long overdue).
And thanks for the link. I’ll have a good read through that page.
I think I can now declare my contact form issues resolved! Thanks again to you and all.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration errorTook your advice and no more config error! Thanks a lot, buzztone.
So dougfitz, you were right – I clearly didn’t make the correct change to the subject field.
However, just tested the contact form by sending myself a message, and again it didn’t come through to my destination gmail address. Does this sound like a problem with the contact form, do you think, or something amiss at my host end perhaps?

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration errorThanks, all.
Tried your suggestion, dougfitz. The Contact form sends messages, but the message doesn’t appear in the destination email account, so I guess the config error remains.
buzztone, I would have done as you suggested, but the code doesn’t appear under the Mail and Messages tabs as it does under Form. I’m not sure where to find the Mail and Messages code to copy and paste it here.
So, have gone with barnez’ suggestion and put links to snapshots of the Mail and Messages pages. As follows:
Probably a tiny error easily fixed, but if you don’t know how to identify it, doesn’t matter how tiny it is! Glad of some help with this.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Configuration errorWell, I have opened the Mail and Messages tabs and have no idea how to identify the error. Could you be more specific, please?
I would have attached a snapshot of the info in these two tabs, but there doesn’t appear to be a facility to upload attachments.
My site is here.

In reply to: Optimising Twenty Fourteen grid imagesNo responses as yet, and I’m thinking I didn’t properly identify the questions I am seeking answers to, so will do so now.
My central issue is how to optimise images when switching themes so they are correctly scaled and do not need to be re-sized when someone downloads the website on which they appear. I believe this would be of interest to others, since being able to easily switch themes is one of the great features of WordPress, but there are often adjustments that need to be made, and optimising images seems to be one of them. There is not much info on this that I can find.
As mentioned in my initial post, prior to uploading to my Media section, I do resize my featured images to Twenty Fourteen’s default dimensions of 1038px wide X 576px, and the other automatically generated images are 474×263, 300×166 and 150×150.
By default, Twenty Fourteen images are 1038×576, 672×372, and the size used in the grid display is 281×155.
Q1: Should I change the automatically generated Media images to match the Twenty Fourteen default dimensions of 672×372 and 281×155?
In my Media Settings, the dimensions are set to 1024×1024, 300×300 and 150×150.
Q2: Should I change these to match the Twenty Fourteen default dimensions?
In summary, the reason for my asking Q1 & 2 above is that I am trying to find a way to ensure that I serve scaled images, particularly in the Twenty Fourteen grid display, rather than re-sized ones. What is the best way to do this, please? And should it be done as a matter of course every time a theme is switched for a new one in which the default image dimensions vary from those of the previous theme?

In reply to: [WP Popular Posts] inline small css re WPP pluginHector, if you’re still there, may I ask you a final question?
Now that I’ve pasted the CSS from your plugin to my child theme stylesheet, should I also delete the WPP stylesheet?
I’m thinking it would be a good idea to copy and paste the CSS from the stylesheets of some other plugins, as per your suggestion re the WPP stylesheet CSS, and would appreciate your thoughts on whether deleting the plugin stylesheets is generally advisable after such an action.
Cheers
