In reply to: annoying 'failure notice' and 'Undelivered mail' noticesThanks, esmi, but it’s going to be a long and painstaking process checking the plugins one by one, because I’d have to wait for a comment each time before I could check to see if the problem email notices appear or not.
I can’t send comments to my own posts because I don’t think that will result in these email notices coming up. I say that because when I reply to reader’s comments, these nuisance email notices do not come up, so I’m assuming they are not related to my posting comments.
I’ve taken note of your other suggestions, though, and will investigate accordingly.
Just wondering, do you (or others) have any idea of what the problems could be specifically?

In reply to: embedding youtube videos into postsYes samboll, has to be html editor because I have the visual editor disabled. It beats me – just a few weeks ago, I could just paste the youtube embed code directly into a post and no problems.
Interesting that jpglab is having the same issue.

A related query: is it possible to have text immediately horizontal to such an image (‘wrapped’, I suppose I mean)? At the moment, I can only begin text at the very bottom of the image, then it resumes normal left alignment on the next line down.

Your code change worked perfectly. That unaligned footer has been irritating me since it appeared after I upgraded WP. It’s great that it’s now fixed – and relatively simply.

In reply to: Widening post-text areaFooter: Try closing the #content div before the footer starts. Right now the footer is contained within the content div. The footer may need to float left also. Save the file before trying this.
I assume you’re referring to the Stylesheet? I don’t know any CSS. If it’s not a hassle, would you mind posting the code I need to use to close the #content div and float the footer left? If it is a hassle, no worries – you’ve been a big help anyway.

1. To reduce by 10%, do I just calculate 10% of the number of pixels that make up the width and depth, then type in that calculation in the embedding code, or is there some way to select a % reduction without making such calculations?
2. Since you guys have both seen my site, is there some simple CSS modification I can make to realign the footer – as you’ll see, it has slipped to the right of the main column. This occurred after I upgraded from version 2.5 of WP.
Appreciate your help.

After reading your suggestion, I checked the embedding code from YouTube and reduced the width of the screens until I found the measure that was best. I’m not sure if by reducing the width but not the height I’ve compromised the videos in some way, but things appear to be working, and the site looks tidier. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your suggestion – appreciated. However, I can’t find #sidebar or .boxed. Should I be looking in Page Template, Sidebar, or somewhere else, please? (I have looked through both of those but can’t find those two items you refer to).

Do you think it might be worthwhile deleting my current sidebar widgets, then reinstalling them from the ones available on the updated version of WP? Just thinking some of the ones currently being used might be old, and less than fully compatible with WP 2.8.4?

You’re right. I have done a little bit of customising (someone helped me through it, I think from one of these forums) – just aligning some of the stuff in the sidebar and changing hyperlink and hover font colour, from memory.
The Text widgets you refer to – what are they? Would that be to do with some plugin I’ve added, or something inherent in the skin design?
