In reply to: Twenty Fourteen green strip with Search functionThanks a lot, Andrew. I’ve only just switched to Twenty Fourteen theme and haven’t created a child theme yet, but do intend to do so ASAP. Been a while since I did it when I last modified my site using Twenty Eleven – wish my capacity to remember was half as notable as my capacity to forget!
Anyway, I’m sure your coding will work fine, so I’ll apply it as soon as I have a child theme up and running. Will report back.
Cheers!

In reply to: Twenty Fourteen Search not workingOK, worked it out, so please ignore this query.
Problem was an old plugin (WPAudio). Now deleted and search function restored.

In reply to: 403 Forbidden notificationsSome feedback.
I’ve consulted my host Support further, and they advise that since my page is indexed with all its images on Google, 403 errors don’t seem to be a problem there:

In reply to: 403 Forbidden notificationsHi James.
I do, indeed, have hot-linking protection enabled within my host Control Panel! So, that would explain the 403 Forbidden Errors, correct?
Thing is, it seems to me now that I better understand the purpose of hotlink protection that I should leave it enabled. But if this causes these 403 Forbidden errors, isn’t that going to negatively impact on SEO?
I suppose, also, it just niggles at me that SEO analysis software and my Broken Links plugin keep identifying all these 403 errors referring to the images throughout my blog site. Do you think I should just ignore the errors?
Cheers

In reply to: 403 Forbidden notificationsThanks for your continued assistance, James. As far as I am aware, no I’m not using hotlink/download or copy protection, but I’ll check with the Support guys at my host and report back.
Cheers!

In reply to: 403 Forbidden notificationsI’ve run the Better Search Replace plugin, and it has, indeed, replaced the sub-domain links as per your recommendation, James, but on checking the Broken Links plugin, all the 403 links remain (although changed so none now refer to the old sub-domain site).
Anyone have any ideas why these now-current image links would be still showing as ‘403 Forbidden’?
Cheers

In reply to: 403 Forbidden notificationsThanks for your very prompt response, James.
I’ve just checked my Media library, and the pics I posted when the blog was located as a sub-domain are there. I guess that means I did copy them over to the new domain?
So, when you advise changing the URLs referencing them to the old domain, what would I change them to?
For example: one of the 403 links is: http://theboomtownrap.perthpunk.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/pierced-monk-melaka-small.jpg
The address of this same link when I bring it up on my current domain is: http://www.boomtownrap.com/15/spellbound-in-melaka/pierced-monk-melaka-smalljpg-2/
So, it looks like I’d have to go through every link like this and change the URL accordingly? Or can this be done with the plugin you recommended?
Cheers

In reply to: twenty eleven update crashThanks for your responses, folks. Interesting that others have had similar problems updating Twenty Eleven.
WPYogi, hi! My host is ICD Soft. One of the Supprt guys has now uninstalled Twenty Eleven and reinstalled a fresh version, and all seems OK now.
So, looks like I just need to get busy on re-doing that recent post.
Cheers!

In reply to: twenty eleven update crashThanks for your response, schulte.
In the meantime, I went into my ISP CP and restored the files to yesterday. All was working fine.
On the advice of my ISP Support, I then restored the DB to yesterday – and lost my most recent post!
Then I tried updating the Twenty Eleven theme again, and now the blog has crashed, with the same message as before.
NB: I am using a Twenty Eleven child theme.
So, do you think I should restore my files and DB again, then remove the Twenty Eleven theme and install is afresh? I’m concerned that every time I update it I will crash my blog – and lose recent posts!
Cheers
